You can get off at Civic Center (first and hill) and roll down (east) 1st street to Hewitt and make a right. or you can get off at Union Station and head south Alameda to 2nd or traction and make a left.
Weather.com has a 70% chance of rain for this Saturday 2/26/11 and I don't want the first day time RWNN to be in the rain. most people won't come out if it's pouring...which is what appears to be happening this Saturday.
If anyone wants to hang out before the ride... Julie is having a birthdayfest with bands and food at Echo Park starting at noon. We could even go there after the ride if anyone is interested.
I'm likely to miss the ride brad, and I love day time rides. But i'm still getting over this SARS, and I don't want to relapse or get worst. Sorry, sad.
Angel city Brewery which moved to the arts district from Torrance will be having a beer garden with food and music about a block from the start of the ride that is kinda lame.
On March 5, 6, and 7, and 11, 12 and 13 (Fridays 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Saturdays and Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.), all are welcome to try hand-selected microbrews, eat from gourmet food trucks, look at art by local artists, and listen to live music.

The "Last" RWNN (not the latest one during the day) we did it in the rain for about 90% of the ride. Numerous falls and one broken clavicle. Yeah, that's why heavy rain cancels.

Thanks to Barleye for his effort in putting on yet another fine ride - I'm enjoying these day time versions.
Hopefully with out sounding too much like your Dad, thanks to everyone who was on the ride and at the brand new Silver Lake Meadow for acting like mature adults and especially for not leaving any trash behind. The spot that only happened due the hard work of some dedicated people and I didn't want to see us wear out our welcome on the first day that park was open. It was good to see the space enjoyed and respected in the best Midnight Ridazz tradition.
The Ride With No Name visited a patch of grass with a hilarious name yesterday, stopping at the Silver Lake Meadow only a few hours after it officially opened. The route, dubbed Great Lakes, took us all around L.A. River, Hollenbeck Park, Lincoln Park (where I saw a guy attempting to fish in the cement pond), L.A. River again (the path, where I saw a huge, swooping blue heron) and the Silver Lake Reservoir. It was on the east side of the reservoir that we stopped for a bit on the unmolested, brand new grass. I stretched out on its lushness, park butt be damned. Oh, then this morning I read this account of pooping dogs. However, I saw no dogs, no poop and no one breaking any rules.* It even lived up to its apparent subtitle “A Quiet Place.” Worry not about the presence of cyclists on this pristine space. The bike tracks only temporarily pressed the grass down a little, and in general we were very respectful; the ride leader even shut off the music as we approached the park, after someone spotted the QUIET PLACE sign on the fence around it. So it was and still is a nice park in a city with so few of them.
After leaving this awesome oasis of calm, I experienced something I never want to repeat. Riding Silver Lake Boulevard around the reservoir, a bunch of us were crowded in the bike lane. I haven’t even been on this road in a car since last summer, and have never ridden the bike lane. It. Is. Fucked. There’s a huge, winding crack that runs the length of it, and in places, the cement on the right side of this urban Mariana Trench is at least an inch higher than the left side. So on this path, bikers have to constantly navigate the pavement so their tires don’t get caught on the crack, which can lead to losing balance or falling. This is obviously harder to do when there are other bikes around you, but it’s still pretty messed up, and unfortunately is in keeping with the state of many bike lanes around L.A. It’s like, “here, bike whiners, you get your own space, but enjoy all these holes, bumps, grates and cracks, mwa ha haaa.”
So, uh, nice park, L.A., but maybe we could also smooth out this bike lane. It’s in a spot where it’s really needed, along a winding road that people speed down. I see from the bike master plan that the lane is meant to be be extended along Silver Lake/Beverly Boulevard all the way to La Brea. (Sweet! I rode this yesterday, and a designated lane would be nice.) With any luck, the lane extension will include repaving the area around the reservoir. Fingers crossed.
*Actually, looking back through my photos, I do see rule-breakers: two little kids riding bikes on the gravel walking path, and bike riding is prohibited in the park. (The sign at the entrance says nothing about bike relaxing.)
I got off the freeway near washington and main and looked in my back seat and noticed i forgot the music trailer....that was at 12:20...rushed home and got back for a 1:20 start.
The next day time ride is set for Sat. May 7th starting at a small park across from LA. High School at 4625 West Olympic Boulevard, 90017. 6 blocks East of Highland between Highland and Crenshaw. I led 2 RWNN'S there at the beginning of last year.

You might want to fix the map on the listing for the day time ride on 5/14. The map shows the usual starting point Downtown instead of the new starting point near LA High.
Please add "School's Out" by Alice Cooper to the music trailer set list for me and others.

Harry's just been called away on business so I need someone to ride the music trailer...Anyone here able to do it? you have to use Harry's bike with it...
bike trailer experience is sorta required....
If not, the ride will have to be postponed...I'm not leading a ride without music.
That was a really good time, Barleye. I'm so glad I went. I saw tons of people I haven't seen in literal, actual years. Awesome route, good long ride, & great music on the trailer (thanks, 'Arry!).
Thanks to everyone that came out for the 3 year anniversary ride.. weather permitting I have a few routes I want to do over the winter season... possibly a valley ride with no name and a dayime ride as well as a westside RWNN. Hopefully you all can make it out for those as well.
I know it's getting really lame how i post a ride and cancel/postpone soon after....this time it's for a good cause....I will be attending the Squirrel Scouts Ride tomorrow night 6/22/12 and encourage anyone that was planning to do the Ride With No Name to go to the SS ride as well. you guys were f'n awesome. thanks for coming out last night. and I hear Louis has retired from riding the music trailer....a big thanks to him for all his years of helping me out with the ride with no name... ...until I talk him into riding it again.
hey....can i get some feedback from those that went on the ride regarding the earlier start time? we rolled out around 8:20 or so and got back to the start around 11:45pm. any thoughts?????
thanks for coming out to those that did with a few other bike related things happening. I've got a few routes in the works....The Valley, and East L.A. so far.

Great job on the 4th Anny. Spokecards and route was tite. Even if it drizzled a little, it was fun. Gave a good vibe to those of us that stuck around. Thanx Brad!!
