POTHOLES!

One of my buddies took a tumble last night on a nasty pothole on 16th Alameda. After spending a lifetime on hold with 311 and the Bureau of Street Services (BOSS), I found this handy form (not sure how quickly they take action) online to report potholes.

I encourage everyone to report potholes and save a brother's skin.

Good looking out. Potholes are especially dangerous during the rainy season as they'll fill up with water and will look very unassuming but before you know it you're flying over your handlebars.

Thanks for reminding me. Yeah I was on hold forever. I reported this recurring pothole by my house at West blvd. and 57th St and the gnarly holes on Fairfax between 6th and 3rd.

Yeah, that downhill really needs work. I've seen tons of riders on rides fall on that very section of road.

For those bold enough to ride Santa Monica Bl through Beverly Hills, the pavement is extra nasty nowadays. At one point, there's a huge lump across all Eastbound traffic lanes that you basically have to bunny hop or you're in trouble.

You should take Carmelina through that stretch. I used to have to jam to work in Hollywood from SMC and I would cut up to Carmelina at Wilshire and get back on S.M. at Doheny. It's way better road, less traffic, and about the same distance (if not slightly faster because there's no lights). I would only take S.M. if I was really flying and wondering what racing Paris-Roubaix might feel like.

here's a claim form to claim damages from the city if you crash due to a pothole:

"Operation Pothole" is supposed to go into high gear this weekend, the 8th and 9th. Fifty crews will be out there patching them up, but the city needs you to tell them where they are. It might be worth spending eternity on hold with 311 this time around.
