study the course BEFORE the race. And don't worry there's only one group that is actually racing. The other 385 people are just rushing to see who won.
STUDY! At an initial glance, it looks like MORE turns than last year. And there are once again sections where you'll be traveling the wrong way on a one way (Main) and on the wrong side of a two way (Burton and San Vicente)
So... can somebody tell me... Do we depart Tangs at 3:00am and ride to the beginning of the marathon course, or do we ride west directly from Tangs and only ride a portion of the course?
last year we rolled east on sunset towards elysian, then went to dtla (skipped the chinatown part), and did the route from there. also, i believe we meet at 3am but the race isn't til 4am since the streets aren't all closed off by then.

There will be a rolling start from TANGS at Sunset and Fountain to Elysian where the race will start. No cheating. We will have surveillance cameras along the course!

Awesome race! The rain/wind on the ride back towards DTLA was ridiculous. Hot shower and nap awaits.
BTW I borrowed my buddy's gopro and shot the race start to finish. I'm no video editor but it came out a little better than I had thought, so maybe someone with more skills can use some of the footage? LMK.

it was a bad ass ride, atleast untill my cousins bike F'd up and we couldnt finish. But really fun nonetheless. And wolfpack riders are fast as fucc. I think its time to hang my fixed and get into gears so i can keep up lol. Hopefully next year ill be able to keep up.
Really enjoyed the ride, guys and gals! Sadly saw very little of all you two-wheelers, as you absolutely out-rolled our unicycle-peleton early on (party of three!)
We were the last ones to cross the line, but still got in before the deluge broke in Santa Monica (about 6:50am). Thanks for all the attaboys on the route guys!
great fun.
first time doing this, so i was hanging in the back, planning on overtaking peeps after a third of the race. Flat in Little Tokyo put me last, and just had a mental game of forcing myself to grind out the rest of the course. (5:40am finish)
But that was the easy part, ride back to LA was ruff, I was done and done and donme some more :), lol
Loved it though, and cant wait to start joining the faster rides!!!
my gosh this was amazing! so many KICKASS people came out and braved the rain today... GL-GL-GL-GLORIOUS! AND i bet everybody felt so cool riding home through all those barricades where cars were left land locked and then forced to take freeways in absurd distances from their homes/works/plays... THANK YOU RIDAZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Some Arizona kids swept the fixie category.....for shame Jared Leto will not be best pleased about this. He may have to shoot his next video on the edge of the Grand Canyon with the AZ kids.......You failed LA
... and if you didn't get enough of my first video of the rolling start, here is the full race, from my middle-of-the-pack POV, condensed down to 12 minutes of furious funk.
