Join us for a bike maintenance workshop taught by women for women. Enjoy giveaways and discounts from local Pasadena merchants at Paseo Colorado. At 7pm we take off for a casual bike ride around the City of Pasadena, reminding everyone how beautiful cycling can be.
Schedule of Events:
6 – 7 pm
Basic Maintenance Workshop – Review simple maintenance tips to keep your bike running safely and smoothly
Paseo Colorado Shopping – Enjoy discounts and giveaways from Paseo merchants
Urban Expeditions Bike Ride – C.I.C.L.E will lead a 5 mile bike ride around the City. This is a good opportunity for newer female riders who can take advantage of the slower pace and safety in numbers offered by Urban Expeditions.
Location: Paseo Colorado, 278 East Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91101. Bike valet will be available at the Green Street entrance across from the Civic Auditorium.
What to Bring: Your bicycle, in good running order, and plenty of night lights. All participants should be able to ride a bike safely with the ability to brake, change gears, and balance while stopping and starting. All participants under 18 must wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 8 should be on a tag-a-long, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device to participate in the ride.
Bike Week Pasadena 2011 is a joint effort by the City of Pasadena and C.I.C.L.E. to promote bicycling as a safe and sustainable mode of transportation. Ladies Night is sponsored by Paseo Colorado and Luna Bar.

I like how metro advertises free rides for anyone with a bike or bike helmet but neglects to inform the drivers! I wonder how many people got on the bus and payed because no one told them it was free today.
05.19.11 - 3:10 pm
Yeah, I got into an argument with a Metro bus driver a couple of years ago on BTW day when she adamantly denied that bike riders were supposed to ride free that day. I told her to call her dispatcher and she did! She got real quiet after hearing back from him.
Anyway, there are a lot of things Metro doesn't tell their drivers...like, for example, what to do when a passenger tries to use a "cash purse" TAP card on a bus with express zones.

I got on a bus a couple of months ago and the bus driver started asking the passengers for the route. I guess it was her first time on that bus line and they gave her the wrong route slip. I was real tempted to direct her right to my door step!

i got a flat on my way in to work today and fortunately there was a Big Blue Bus a few blocks behind me. so i hopped on the bus and i was about to pay (i had no idea it's BTW day) but the driver said, "bike riders don't have to pay today... just for today though!"
