Badly Injured and Missing Everyone

I am corresponding from Davis, CA with a shattered pelvis. It's been about a week since the incident and I will most likely have many more ahead before I can even think about getting back on a bike.
I guess I sort of wanted to pop my head in over here since I haven't for awhile and see how everyone was and whether anyone has any sort of experience with multiple pelvis breaks and the nature of their healing. I will never forget everyone's kind gestures and advice when I was hit by a car months ago even though I rebounded from that in about a week. I love you guys.

I'm so sorry to hear that Chlo! I hope you heal fast!

Once you're able to, make sure you get as much physical therapy as possible, and do your exercises religiously, that really makes a difference for getting back to full strength.
Good Luck!

Chlo, you act like you have the body of Stone Cold Steve Austin, ease up on the chair-shots!!!!
No, get well, and occupy yourself with something so you don't go totally mad while recuperating.

Wow, bummer, Chloe! Best wishes for a fast recovery. I'm sure mixedemotions (she broke her pelvis last year) will have some good advice for you when she gets back from the Salton Sea. Take a lot of calcium, for starters (I think).
What are you doing in Davis, going to school? We have friends up there and usually visit once or twice a year.

Actually, the reason why I ended up here is sort of a tale as well. The hospital I ended up in was Sutter General in Sacramento. Some of my best friends live in Davis and when they found out what had happened, they offered to pick me up and put me up in their house for a bit so I may heal.

I want to know why you are in the Sacramento area. And, it's nice to hear from you, and...sure, I miss you. But, what is the situation with ending up in Sacramento, in the first place? You are using words that make me think you just drifted in.
I would like some info. And, I really hope you get back to 100%

Tern, I would love to explain why I am here. However, that would also mean I would have to explain how my injury happened. There are two issues with doing that. One, it is incredibly long and I would rather not have to punish my fingertips because my pelvis aches. The second and most important reason, is that these threads can be accessed by anyone. Including... the government. Searching for people unknowingly confessing to their crimes. I couldn't afford that on my record.
Ashira, please tell me more of this magical root you speak of! My only problem is that I have no money. But certainly I will figure something out if it will be beneficial to my healing process. Which is all too long and arduous, painfully boring and drowsily medicated.
When I get back in LA, I will let you all know. If anyone would like to call me, I would honestly appreciate it a bunch. Tomorrow, all my friends in this house are going to be taking midterms so I will probably just be sitting awkwardly and reading Bukowski.

my dad broke his pelvis (both sides) and it was a very long time. I think he was on his back for 4 plus weeks, not walking far and not certainly not riding for several months. i was in another country at the time so i don't know the full details...

Hmm, well it has only been one week for me, I was off my back after the third day at the hospital, which was four or five days from when the injury actually took place. I can't exactly walk without my walker, but with it I am taking regular, but hesitant, steps. The pain is not really there anymore, I'm not one to ever really feel pain anyhow. Initially, I didn't even think I had broken anything. There is certainly huge improvement in my mobility. At first, I could barely move my legs, couldn't stand, nor sit, nor lie down. Now, I feel somewhat normal, just as if in super slow motion. And I can't get on my sides.

WOW a fellow Sacramentaran! I used to live on 18 & F and grew up in Rancho Cordova. Lots of bicycle infrastructure in Sacto huh? When I was riding there, there wasn't shit there.
Hope you heal up fast Chloe. Take care of yourself. I know that community hospital on Stockton Blvd is a good hospital to go to. So if you need to, you should go there. Should be free there if you can show you are unemployed.

User1: I am not staying in Sacramento, that's just where I ended up with the injury. I went to Sutter General Hospital and from there, my friends picked me up and brought me to their lovely home in Davis. So while I did not get to see the bike scene for myself out there, I have been able to see what it is here in Davis. And it's quite nice. Except right now when it's raining cats and dogs and sometimes ponies and canaries, too.
As for care packages and visitings, I don't know what to say. I would be overwhelmed with happiness just to receive a card from any of you. I can't explain how much that would mean to me. However, I am not sure how much longer I will be staying here. I might be switching locations to a squat house in west Oakland. As soon as I can be sure of an address where I may receive mail (and maybe visitors!!), I will let you know.
Love,
Little Chloe
