More importantly than any nerd costumes, it is important for us to acknowlege our inner nerds. We all have one, it's that tendancy to do something incredibly creative and idiosyncratic, which is also deeply uncool. Anyone care to share?
I'll start. I'm RIGHT NOW wearing shoes with thin strips of old inner tubes as laces. they're flexy and supportive, but not too tight, and incredibly comfortable. also, they don't shred like cloth laces and theyre a reused resource.
I get excited every time I look at my shoes and that's what makes me a...

As I was preparing my nerd costume, I strongly considered bringing my complete anthology of Shakespeare's works. And then I realized I couldn't risk having my baby get hurt like that, so you guys are just stuck with the Shakespeare I've memorized. All 200 lines.

I'm more of a geek. But.....I've stayed up the last 4 night reading about my favorite videogames. About the hidden story lines and the missed connections. Youtubing the soundtracks. And drawing little sketches of characters.

i know all the lines to Star Wars. i can play Star Wars trivial pursuit and win. i didn't like the first three movies, but i'll admit, i enjoy watching all 6 one right after the other on a lazy afternoon. my favorite character is Obi Won Kenobi. and secretly, i have outlined 7, 8 and 9 and i don't care that everyone else has too because i am pretty much proud my nerdologyness in that i love Yoda - and wouldn't mind hnaging out with him for long periods at a time where i can just pick his brain.
and my favorite part of all 6 movies is in Empire:
Yoda: That boy is our last hope
Obi Won Kenobi: There is another.

Funanu looks really hot. In that pic. And by hot I men that in the most "friend" mannerisms. But srsly.
I love yoda. I'm wearing a star wars watch right now. The far back right side of my hair is shoeter that any other part. (Behind the ear) Because I made myself a padawon braid and I never took it off all of my junior year in HS and it became a dread and I had to chop it in half for it to become undone.

true nerds admit, they watch the first three because even though they are bad - there are tiny moments of the universe we can't refuse to love.
i admit it. i hate Anakin. but after 3 when i begin A New Hope and Darth comes through the door - i get the chills. and that alone, i confess, is awesome!

I like elevator music. I really really really like it.
On the way back from Salton Sea I found this great station in Catherdal City 98.5KWXY. Bummed that they don't have it on the internet.
The commercial where targeted for people 60 years old and up.

That counts. Especially if you seek out elevator music. Sounds like you do.
The Muzak company is pretty interesting. They're still around, still making music, but they changed the name of the company, since it has a negative connotation now. They also compose new songs, not just make ... you know. Muzak versions of pop classics.
Here's a nerd moment for you: I'm missing the Midnight Ridazz Revenge of the Nerds Ride because I want to be nice & fresh for tomorrow morning's architecture ride. It's not a sleep thing — I can work on just a few hours if I need to. I just don't want to be out of it and yawny while inside the architectural works of some of the great modernist masters.
Other nerdy things: I write with a Micron pen. Like, all the time, not just when drawing (I don't have the need to draft anymore). I own about seven safety rulers (for cutting paper and chipboard and foam core) of varying sizes. Before I lost my pencil case, I used to carry two miniature scales in it: An architect's scale (imperial) and an engineer's scale (metric). The top of my work desk is fitted with a portable drafting table, which I leave on there.
"I'm RIGHT NOW wearing shoes with thin strips of old inner tubes as laces."
I BROKE A LACE THIS WEEK. THAT IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA. Thanks!

fuck u onelesspixie u aint the coolest of nothing. ya but anyways i am the biggest shortwave radio & scanner nerd in this whole sorry ass lil scene. when i was a kid i wanted a shortwave communications receiver but i was a lil pobrecito 4 real & my parents couldnt afford that shit but they were able to buy me a shortwave broadcast receiver. wats the difference u say, well ima tell you dumass, the difference is a communications receiver has a beat frequency oscillator so u can listen to single sideband voice comms and cw (morse code).
well i loved my lil radio but it didnt have that shit so i figured out how to ghetto rig a beat frequency oscillator using the parasitic emissions from a regular lil am transistor radio. its simple u just tune in ur ssb frequency then u put the am radio right next 2 the shortwave receiver and turn it on, then u slowly tune across the am broadcast band until u hear a swish in the shortwave receiver. then u fine tune it until the voice becomes intelligible. u have artificially reintroduced the carrier wave which is exactly what a bfo does. so now i was able 2 listen to long range aeronautical communications & ship 2 shore & of course ham radio. ya the beat frequency drifts a lil but u can just keep fine tuning that shit. ... ..- -.-. -.- -- -.-- -.. .. -.-. -.- thats suck my dick in morse code & u dam right i dont need no online translator 4 that shit

I play D&D, and I love Star Wars, and anyone that says the Prequels were whack, well, you're WHACK, that shit is bomb! Not as bomb as the HOLY TRILOGY, but bomb in the context of the mythology that IS Star Wars - which is beyond the movies and beyond the toys, dog. All you haters don't know what you're talking about, and you probably were fans of BUFFY.
Plus being a D&D & Star Wars geek has NOTHING to do with being a NERD, nerd.
