close your eyes

the before is where i wish to return. when i am gone and you think i am lost, pause and remember. for those moments of me are always, constant, forever. where i go from here is the tiny mystery i have yet to write.
Welcome to a world of surrealism. Dont make sense. Be ridiculously imaginative. Dress up. Drink Elixirs. Be daring. Kiss Strangers. Super Glue plastic animals to your body. Make a forest in your hair. Strap a million tiny mirrors to your bicycle. Let your body tell a story. Communicate through interpretive dance. Be someone else this ride. Make someone up. Dont use your real name if you dont want to. Dance like if you cant. And dont care about time.
Tarsis has proven to run a sweeeet ride. I had soooo much fun on the pokemon ride. the route was great too. I cant wait to see the cutty streets this one takes us through!
Oh, I meant it in reference to the last couple threads you started "dirty ridazz" and this one. Just seemed like you needed to get something off your chest. And what a lovely... jk. :P
If you've seen a film production of Alice in Wonderland, it is usually a combination of both books put together. Read em, you'll see, neither is very long.
Found this over last summer:
Not directly related, but still indirectly pretty...

"Looking Glass"
I think of cameras, but 'tis all whatever.
"dude.... will lsd be included? or do we have to bring our own?"
lsd hasn't been in good circulation anymore in socal since the start of 2009. =( if someone has any, it's either from their saved personal stash or its bunk. the chemists have disappeared into their batcaves.
The ride should be pretty awesome because there's only a 50% chance of showers (not rain) during the day time... and by evening it's only a 30% chance. Some drizzling doesn't really make a difference to me. w00t
Before I forget, I just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone that bought an MR bottle opener from me or an I Bike LA t-shirt from Ben or Kat to help support Team Midnight Ridazz and AIDS/Lifecycle. We realize that people in this community don't really have a lot of money and we appreciate that you're willing to help us help this great cause. More importantly, the people who receive the services of LA Gay & Lesbian Center appreciate it. Really. Truly. THANK YOU! YOU GUYS ARE PURE ROCKSAUCE! Dot com.
I missed out :( we were going to go 5 peeps deep and my brother hit a huge pot hole making him get a flat. we fixed it and about a block later his axle skrew from his quick release came off. and there you go no more ride for us
So there's three items of photographic and/or video footage that we would love to have from tonight:
1) Us on the hood of a West Hollywood Sherriff's car
2) Us posing with our tandem in the park as part of the dude with the tripod's photo collage art project (we gave you our email addys, looking forward to hearing from you)
3) Getting to yell at dude who's an expert at biking and manning a video camera for DARING to say we looked like ABBA. ABBA fucking blows! ABBA needs to DIE already! Yeah, yeah, she had a disco ball-esque jacket, and I was wearing gold tights like a gay Swede. But in no way does that justify being compared to one of the worst, most offensive musical groups in history.
Thank you for your time, and your attention to our needs for photos. Especially as we plan to fight the traffic ticket for running a red light on a mass bike ride. Pretty funny.
great ride!
thank you tarsis and organizers. loved the cookies and tea, music and cards. everyone could tell much love went into the planning of tonight.
i've been diggin the vibe of the MR rides lately....good stuff- we got much love on the streets tonight which was an extra bonus. haven't felt that in awhile.
the only thing that sucked was the tandem getting pulled over and ticketed. sorry to see that happen friends.....
I showed up an 40 minutes late. Met up with other stranded ridazz, we rode around aimlessly and the ride finally caught up to us while we were having tacos in k-town. then i got a flat and Chynna helped me fix it. Then we rode back to the start where only the most faded persisted to chill, when they broke for tacos i decided to pedal home.
I never rode with more than 10 or 15 people at one time the entire night.
Hahah
good looking out Chynna i'd probably still be waiting for the bus if you had not waited for me.
I was on the back of the bike . . . I'm curious as to why the police specifically told ME to pull over (OK, I'll just throw myself off the moving bike) and then had ME put my hands on the hood of their vehicle. They had me do that and then never once spoke to me, asked for ID, anything, but treated me as if I was a threat. Seriously, would they have done that if we were in a car? Immediately asked the calm, compliant driver AND passenger to get out and put their hands on the car?
Anyway, all y'all who hung out and witnessed the citation were my heroes. Thanks for not leaving us to face that idiocy alone. I wanna know what happened to that poor guy who joined us at the hood of the car and had his property (all those t-shirts he was selling for CHARITY) searched.
That would be dannyzuko. They gave him a ticket for running a red, which he didn't do (we were all going through on the green). They did the same to another guy whose main crime was trying to debate them on some issue or another.
We tried to have a reasonable discussion with some of those deputies and it was like talking to mud. Really aggro mud.
Maybe the funnest ride I've ever been on. The route was really great and I knew a lot of people out there so that made it that much more fun. The front of the pack didn't try to hijack at all.....
To the students doing the interviews, please email me a final copy of the story you did. Thanks.
that was a GREAT ride. thank you so much everyone!
GOOD PEOPLE
GOOD RIDING
GOOD TIMES
GOOD TEA :-)
and like kat said special thanks to everyone who helped Team Midnight Ridazz fight the good fight against AIDS by buying an I BIKE LA shirt, we super duper appreciate it!
i also got a ticket and hand cuffed for no headlight and running a red, oh ya,also the officer told me to tell yall that we should not ride our bikes in large groups, it hinders public safety and if we keep riding in large groups they will start a task force just for us, dont you guys feel special! were a real gang now, were gonna have our own task force!
The group was pretty big to begin with... and given its size and the distance we went, the group was blowing through the city at rapid speeds! I was wearing an orange sweater with the tall goofy hat and ghettoblaster strapped to my bike. my brother was one of hte mad hatters, haha.
tarsis and others, ty for organizing this.
I saw lots of people get lost or get left behind cause of the sheer speed of the main group, that was some intense riding and we went a pretty long way all the way to west hollywood without much stopping!!
I noticed early on that much of the group overall was VERY quiet and not calling out turns/warnings/caution of slowing/etc... Drivers were sometimes stupid aggressive and corkers were needed, BUT.. i know hundreds if not thousands of people last night witnessed our amazing parade through the city, haha that was awewesosme
O yea, speaking of awesome, the tea party at the park was dope! i really enjoyed that whole setup and the park was way chill.
As for cops. Numerous times I saw cops try to break/split the group up from the middle or cut off the last 20 riders at the end of the group many times. From my perspective as a rider, anytime the cops get involved, riders get confused, slow down, and/or get scared and it just doesn't help us in terms of safety, ironically enough. Not the first time anyones heard this, right?
The cops don't have an effective way of dealing with us either and so sometimes it is clear that THEY are also in fact confused about what action to take.
Anyway eventually when we started going back east, i split off with my friends and went from los feliz to glendale and crashed there at like 3am, heheh, now i'm gonna bike to la mirada, INTENSE WEEKEND, hahahaha
oh and the twitter thing worked out all right... i didn't do it after the tea party though, i figure if you didn't catch up to the tea-party-stop in west-ho, then you're never catching up already, lol
woah is rayrayray same as rey?
didn't know you got a ticket either man.
antarnik. the twitter thing worked great, I was able to follow the ride but more updates would be better. like ask the ride leader in what general direction they are going.
from Vermont I took subway to 7th, got a text yer goingto hollywood,
took subway to vermont/sunset, and bamn, you guys are already on vine.
and there were a whole bunch of stragglers. i was worried sometihng happened to you since you got no updates.
Yeah more updates would be nice but not really practical for me since I have to keep up too.
More importantly, I've learned that if the front pack is rolling through, your chances of catching up while they are in motion are very slim. The front pack run through reds and cuts through city at blazing speeds!
Read: The only real chance you have of catching up is when only when the ride comes to an official stop! Use the updates with that in mind.
ya the front of the pack was going WAY to fast for the riders.
i corcked the intersection before santa monica turns and there was a giant gap between two packs of riders.
well if you have a general idea where they are going, you can always take a shortcut. like if i was on vermont and sunset and i knew you guys were going to MCArthur park, i would just go down vermont and wait for ya.
but ya. the ride didn't even start when the tandem got pulled over =/
That would be dannyzuko. They gave him a ticket for running a red, which he didn't do (we were all going through on the green). They did the same to another guy whose main crime was trying to debate them on some issue or another.
We tried to have a reasonable discussion with some of those deputies and it was like talking to mud. Really aggro mud.

i was the other guy, PC. nice to meet you last night, although i didn't talk much. next time i'll formally introduce myself.
Seriously, would they have done that if we were in a car? Immediately asked the calm, compliant driver AND passenger to get out and put their hands on the car?
Unfortunately they would. I had plenty of run ins with the LASD in my younger years. Each of them made me wonder why they are so overly aggressive. I do know they work in the County Jails for four years before they can do street patrols. Not saying that justifies their actions, but might be a reason why they are so unreasonable and nightmare to be pulled over by. I'm all for the elimination of the LASD.
Any thoughts of doing a slow cruz ride through WEHO on at peak traffic time obeying all traffic law.? Call it WEHO Critical Mess!
Glad to hear it was another EPIC ride I got to miss again.
Maybe they where dressed up and you didn't view them through the looking glass? Did you talk to them, did you see they where playing a different personality?
and like kat said special thanks to everyone who helped Team Midnight Ridazz fight the good fight against AIDS by buying an I BIKE LA shirt, we super duper appreciate it!
^^^^
Correction re: the above... Sean actually thanked y'all for helping out Team Midnight Ridazz... but I'd like to add to that as well. We totally understand that some of you were not prepared to approach you about buying a shirt to support the team's FUNdraising efforts for the AIDS/LifeCycle ride. And that's cool. Just know that we are going to continue to be out on other rides until we run out of shirts. I'll be at the SGV Midnight Social Ride tomorrow night and Friday's Ride with No Name.
Remember: $20 for your limited edition supa SEXay I BIKE LA shirt... we have sizes SMALL -> XL. all proceeds go to the fight against AIDS/HIV.
Thank you again for all of your support. RIDE ON!!!
