Where did the original thread about the H3 running over the ridaz go?

I really don't care if the press is there personally.
They typically fuck things up anyway.
I would however like to see a lot of cyclists there to pay respect to fallen rider. I hope this is more memorial for Jesus Castillo than spectacle for the bike cause.

yeah for all you U21, start drinking AFTER the memorial. show some respect.

The press bringing attention
Attention brings awareness.
Awareness brings change
Change is what we need!

Stephen Box will be there. We should do the memorial ride and then, along with LACM and VCM, and any other rides going on... take a ride down to the precinct.

okay. just don't be disappointed when the media paints the wrong image of us to the throng.

I guess its up to us to REPRESENT. This Circle of death tonight should be HUGE and last for at least minutes!

Actually, I vote for a die-in. They sound cool, and really fit the situation at hand.

I am planning on attending a memorial for a person, not a protest or media event for cycling.
I think its is appropriate for this to be covered by the news.
It is community news .
But it would break my heart to see Faux News focusing on a spectacle like a circle of death (which looks like people having fun) and traffic jam in lew of covering the purpose of the event, which is, to memorialize the life of Jesus Castillo.
trickmilla04.24.09 - 12:05 pm

Agreed- that's why I think the die-in would work. It's going to be difficult to get the group to stay in one place & behave, having such a concerted effort to stay still will probably be the best way to handle it.

"Die-ins are a form of protest where participants simulate being dead (with varying degrees of realism)."

I agree 100% with this.

Shoot. I hope I can break out in time to join you all. I Totally Like the Die In idea.
Joe Borfo04.24.09 - 12:11 pm

Yup. For a die in at CM, you flip your bike upside down and lie next to it.
danya04.24.09 - 12:12 pm

ok I'll bite, danya, what's a die-in ?
also,
I am planning on attending a memorial for a person, not a protest or media event for cycling.
how about media coverage of a memorial? so long as it positively contributes to preventing the need for future memorials wouldn't that be time well spent? I'm just saying, don't be so pessimistic dood

i hate to say it, but a hundred cyclists not moving on glendale at 8pm +press +police sounds like a recipe for arrests and good ol fashion F U N.
whos corking?

hmmm... I'm making a flyer, I'll be sure to ask people to stay in the rightmost lane, or at least leave one lane open to cars.

Letting cars through ensures that more people see you. Which results in more curiosity of what is going on.
I'm against having the media out to something that is suppose to be somewhat sacred as a memorial

as jello biafra says:

+1
We don't need to piss people off to get their attention, but if we do piss them off, we should at least let them know
why we're doing it. Keep a lane open so they can see.

if you're rollin out to tonight's ride and you do NOT have a I BIKE LA shirt to show your support for the ride...no fear, Team Midnight Ridazz will be here (okay, there)! we'll trade you a shirt & spoke card for your $20 donation.

yes let's please be courteous to drivers trying to get through the area. and please don't make this a spectacle. members of the community and his family will be there too. after we pay our respects and move on, we can get ourselves riled up again about last night.
