INTERBIKE in Vegas

Myself and a few friends are driving over to Interbike in a few hours. There is another friend or two mine that want to go but we don't have room in the car. Is anyone else going to Interbike leaving from the Pasadena area that would be willing to give him/them a ride? He's a down-ass dude and wont rape you in the car I promise.

if youre not in the industry, then theres really no point to go to the convention. and, you already missed the dirt demo, so theres really no point in wasting gas to get there.

the schwag was pretty minimal for this year. i got a thomson keychain bottle opener made with the same material as their stems and seatposts, a kcmc derailler pulley keychain, a maxxxis beer coozy, and some random stickers from every booth. lunch was travelling to all the different energy bar booths and filling up on samples.
junu, i tried to get you one of the look pint glasses, but i wasnt about to pay $20 for anything there.
the azonic booth made it like the la auto show with girls in bikinis.
giant pulled out at the last minute, so they didnt have a legit booth there, but there were different giant tt bikes in random booths all over.
electra ripped off the look of the campy sherrif star hubs for their new line of "gentlemans fixies" and i kind of bums me out.

Yo know... I like the Electra Townies that you guys carry. Would be a good bike for my dad. You sit upright... smooth... and pretty fast for the 7 speed version. Not that heavy. Do those Townies have adjustable stems? It would a good 'parent' bike right? No hills... flat mostly river path cruising. They come in one size?

the reason the dirt demo rules is because you get to test ride all sorts of expensive bikes. fixed gears, mountain bikes, road bikes, time trial bikes. some retard did one of the downhill courses on an offroad unicycle. with the convention, youre just walking around in a big room for 9 hours.

the townies are all one size fits all. the 7 and 21 speed versions are aluminum frames. some have adjustable stems, some dont. the threaded ones you can move up and down a little bit, but most of the sizing comes from the seat post height. bring them in to get sized up / check out the different colors we have.

that foes was a perfect fit. you have no idea how in love with that bike i am. if i had five grand to drop on a bike i would get it in a heartbeat. fabricated by hand in pasadena to boot!
there were no trials bikes there, but every company has a cheapo fixed gear available now.
the industry buzzword this year was "fixie". no joke.

Rock was there with their new road bikes (self built or covered Fuji frames hard to say) but none of the 4815 Fixed that they twittered about. There was a private Rock party off site that may have had them.

Just got back from Vegas. The whole "no point in going" is ridiculous. A lot of stuff was selling cheap if you knew where to look. Not to mention I got drunk Thursday AT the convention from all the Blue Moon and Fat Tire coming out of several booths. Got a lot of free stuff. Just little goodies. Chrome was selling everything at 50%. A lot of the Taiwanese booths were selling some good stuff at really good prices.
Then there was the BMX awards party. Open bar for about an hour and a half but it only took me about a half hour of double-fisting stiff drinks to become completely inebriated. Apparently I had fallen down a huge set of concrete stairs "Hollywood action movie style."
I spent about $6 on the whole trip. The convention was bike porn.
