arm pain

sometimes after a long or rough ride, i have this really hot, sore pain that goes up and down my arms.
i think it usually happens if i go for a long ride with no gloves or if i'm on a rough road for awhile.
does that pain come from all the rattling?
will having decent padded gloves relieve this pain?
suggestions?

Gloves will definitely help. I had some nerve damage for almost 6 months from a couple of really rough rides when I first got a road bike. I couldn't open and close my fingers all the way. Check the fit on your bike, raising or lowering the handlebars, or getting a stem that brings the handlebars closer to your body might help. I moved my handlebars up and my arms/hands eventually got better. Also, some decently padded handlebar tape helps too.
Are you on drop bars or upright? Switching to straight handlebars or a more upright position can also help.
One last thing is that we often forget that it takes quite a bit of arm strength to do long rides and ride on rough road. It's possible you might need to do some upper body conditioning.
Hope you feel better!

where is up and down your arms, on the interior side , or on the outside by the elbow? gloves help a bit but its more important to keep your arms relaxed. your arms kind of act as a suspension between the bars and your shoulders having a super grip on the bars will also tense up your arms.
a lot of people also tend to ride in their drops putting a lot of pressure on the wrists. put your hands out in front of you, thumbs up palms together. now separate your arms slightly wider than your shoulders. now curl your fingers gently to make a circle with your middle finger and thumb. you should be relaxed and loose rather than pressing down on the wrist like a push up stance.

Molest yourself more often. Increase your arm strength and lessen your arm pain.

interior side of arms, where it bends. like the other side of my elbow. that area where doctors stick needles into u to draw blood.
it's a really weird hot feeling, super sore. enough to where it wakes me up from sleep.
i think i ride in my drops about 35-40% of the ride. i'm usually on my hoods or on the flats.
i keep really close attention to keeping my arms relaxed.
i think its either from not wearing gloves or gripping really hard on descents.
on descents and if the road is rough, i have this habit to grip my hoods WAY hard. i think that may be it.
