contesting tickets

first off this has nothing to do with being ticketed while riding my bike.
im just posting it on this board because i know many of you live in santa monica, venice, the westside, places where parking is a complete bitch. i know you have all received a bunk parking ticket for one reason or another.
any who,
i live in a culdesac, i live in a house with two roommates, there are three of us total. one of us parks in the garage, two of us park in the driveway.
roommate 1 parks her car in the garage, roommate 2 and i park in the driveway behind her.
roommate 1 gets up early for work, i move my car to let her out. i move my car out and park behind roommate 2. we're still in teh drive way but the ass end of my car sticks out into sidewalk. i go back inside to finish breakfast, come back out and there is a 50 dollar ticket.
i mean, wtf. im in my driveway.
is this contestable? is there like a law that says, hey, dont i have like a 15 minute loading time period or something like that?
any meter maids out on MR that can give me advice?

your vehicle cannot obstruct any public sidewalk for any duration of time.

is this a fact or are you just taking a guess.
do u know if theres anything online i can look up to find out what the exact deal is?
i checked all over dmv and couldnt find it anywhere
i figured if contested teh ticket and sent them a letter or whatever, theyll see how ridiculous this is/ not want to deal with it and throw it out. idk. ive had tickets thrown out before but nothing like this.

It's not the DMV, it's the municipal code of whatever city you happen to live in. Google "city name" municipal code parking and see what comes up.

yup. they're picking on the koreans...
the specific terminology they used was something like
"...impeding access to the sidewalk..."
such words do not fit the criteria to be placed into my diction, therefore it is safe to assume i must've heard it elsewhere.

yeah, it makes sense. but i mean, its at my house. what kinda shit is that? i run inside to grab something and they ticket me. how lame.

Expect more of this shit. The city needs revenue. Since no one wants to raise taxes, they have to figure out how to squeeze more blood from a turnip.

This happened to my ex gf in VA. I came home and asked about it and officials told me the exact same thing "no obstructing public streets for any duration of time."

how do you feel when you encounter a car parked in the bike lane?
i imagine it's probably the same level of annoyance a person in a wheelchair would have trying to get around a car parked on the sidewalk.

Fighting parking tickets is a waste of time. They are outside the court system and you have no rights and zero chance of winning.
Traffic tickets on the other hand can be beaten if you have your shit together.

another thing that confuses me is how did the guy write the ticket so fast and bail out?
