I know the bike oven is volunteer nonprofit base deal but if a key holder who is on tap to come in and open the place up just blows off the day without even bothering with a posted note on the door or anything is a dick move

Tuesday 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Thursday 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Saturday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Monday – Closed for shop maintenance (staff volunteers only)
Wednesday – Closed for tutorials and classes (registration required)
Friday – Closed

you should have went to the Artcycle today. You could gotten your bike worked on by 2-3 groups while you drew on the streets with chalk!

I wish i would have, i was looking to fix my bike for a ride last night i didnt make it to. I even went to Dick's Sporting Goods

That is I and that is my bike. It is still not put together, Im just going to roll down to the local bike shop and pay to have it put together

On sat and sun there's only one person that shows up and that person does bike talk and rushes over to open the oven. That person is chicken leather. What's Fucken great about the oven is the pigeon if we flake Josef who started the oven will not he's open next door with the pigeon and he is pretty darn cheap and he has the Charlie's angels working for him. I know everyone wants their shit immediately but if you have a project arrange it with chicken and he ll be there.
This Sunday we are doing haunted bike in movie last time wad a blast. This really shouldn't be free its so good. The sound is amazing. Will post soon v

I want defend the oven but we do stupid shit all the time. Have cranky olg engineers that scream at kids and fixes really have to search for hours for a part. chicken has no sense of time. We are totally different we will fix your bike feed you, tell you to have seat and watch tv. I don't know what other place does this but we do we are always at a point of non existence. People treat us like a business , but we are more like a social club with no members, a place for people that have no place. I think bike riders are much like that, the street is really where they feel alive or riding really. Everyone can hate the oven but if there is a bike event we will close shop and leave something up saying you really have to to do this. Like choppercabras don't spend your day fixing you bike plan ahead so you could have fun.

I think criticism is only valid if through a contemporary or peer. Running a bike co-op is a thankless job. I will defend Veronica and Chicken Leather to the death form all you self-important slobs. You people don't realize how lucky you are to even have ANYTHING to even try and go to to fix your bike for peanuts. It was not too long ago there was nothing, and now there are all kinds of things, great things for our "scene" (ahem.). Do not be a useless skin-sack, if you see something is falling apart and needs help, by all means be part of the solution and help out. Bitching does nothing, action does.

You both are right, I’ll go down to the bike oven and spray paint my phone number on the wall so that the next time the bike oven doesn’t open y’all can call me and I’ll come down and drill out the locks and let people in and do what they need and put up a honesty jar so peoples can pay for the time they spent and the parts they took.
If you’re going to sign up and open a shop and you can’t make it just a post-it note on the door will do. No one is acting like they are owed anytime just don’t waste peoples time buy fucking off without a word

Get to a bike shop; they're pretty good with open hours.
Please leave the volunteer, community-based workspaces alone; we're doing just fine without post-it notes.

I'm sure your complaint was noted. Maybe more people could volunteer there and things would run smoother?
But, yeah, we still love our Bike Oven. They do a lot for us.

I'm usually really a positive person. I love this community with all my heart, including everyone apart of it. But I'm going to go ahead and say you're an unthankful little shit. Spray paint your number and get the doors open? Shut up, dude. This ENTIRE community is lucky to have the Oven. Every single time I go in there, Chicken makes sure to make me feel at home. Whether it being telling me to make myself some coffee, helping me fix something I can not do on my own or just laughing. This place doesn't get nearly enough praise as it deserves. Boo fucking hoo, they were closed on a day they were said to be open. If you would have looked to your left you'd notice a bike shop that could have done the work for you.
How about instead of spray painting your number to get attention, next time you're in there you fill out a volunteer form? Then you'll for sure know when they're open. Dick.

Forget the name calling, guys! What is this "over pay every time I go in there" business? You mean, $5 for stand time and next to nothing for bike parts is over paying? Maybe you should take your bike to a shop and compare paying $15 for changing a tube vs. $5 for changing your tube, food, coffee and whatever else they can offer you.
