Metro Making More Room on Trains for Bikes

Just five months ago, I was repeatedly warned by Metro staff members that the agency was considering enforcing its ban on bicycles on trains during rush hour. However, at a committee meeting earlier today, Metro completely reversed course from their rumored plans a couple of a couple of months ago and announced a pilot program to remove a small amount of seating on some trains to make more room for bicycles and wheel chairs.
The seat removal trial program, announced on pages 5 and 6 of this document, could lead to over 1,000 seats being removed from the Gold, Blue, Green, Red and Purple Lines. Initially seats will be removed on just a few trains, but if the new spaces are used by cyclists and wheel chairs we could see the program extended system wide. The proposed breakdown of removed seats per train line if this plan is extended system wide is as follows:

Next, they need to install bike racks like in PDX.

Let's see,
I've ridden Atlanta, GA's MARTA; PDX's MAX, Dallas/Ft Worth's light-rail; this weird, inter-urban thingy that went through a suburban street on its way from Gary, IN to East Chicago; MTA of course; and I definitely want to try out Phoenix's light-rail as soon as it get's up and running.
I hear it's going to go all the way from downtown Phoenix, to ASU in Tempe.

One night we had a MTA train operator pass us on her way to the driver's cabin. As she passed us she says, "you guys and your fuckin bikes!!"

I was told one night by the train driver that bikes aren't allowed in the first train car. I said I had read the Metro rules and there was no mention of that in the rules. He told me that was his rule and that the bikes pose a safety hazard. I told him that bikes get us to places that the subway doesn't service. And if there is a safety hazard it was the guy last week projectile vomiting all over the seats. He threatened to call the sheriffs and I was too tired to fight him, so I went to the second car.

Weeeeiiirrrd!! I was JUST on a train with my bike talking to a guy about how they need to make more room for bikes. He was saying they should make one whole car just for bikes. I don't think that would ever happen, but removing seats is a good start!

I THINK WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE LIFE AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE FOR PEDS THAT THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN US CYCLIST.
I HAD A BITCH TELL ME THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BRING BIKES ON THE TRAIN, SO I TOLD HER THAT SHE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SUCK DICK ANYMORE.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HER FACE MELT, AND A WHOLE LOT OF CUSTOMERS SNICKER BECAUSE OF WHAT I SAID OUT LOUD, IN 'CAP LOCKS'.
SHE WAS SO FUCKING UGLY, INSIDE AND OUT, AND IT REALLY FELT GOOD, BECAUSE I DID NOT ASK FOR HER FUCKIN OPINION.
