I fell in love with Amsterdam!
OMG, I don't see why we can't try to get L.A. emulate this type of bicycle culture! To me, I think it's pretty simple now, actually, the steps that we can take to make city's in the U.S. more geared towards the bicycle in our lifestyle.
Paris and Berlin rocked in the area of bicycle consciousness as well.
I will soon post a few pictures and a recap of my first trip to Europe for those interested.

how do they tell what bike is there? I have the black single speed with the black and white rear fender, and the red reflector on the back.

Word on that the Europeans have it figured out and that it would be SO GREAT if more people in LA would get hip to bike commuting.
I spent three weeks in Aarhus, Denmark and was stunned at how many people commute by bike. And if it rains--which it does there a lot--they just put rain duds on and keep going. It was inspiring, especially coming from LA.
I work from home so I can't say I bike commute, but there are so many people who could probably save time on their commutes by not driving, or at least enjoy life more than sitting a box, fuming at the horrendous traffic. I won't go on and one, we all know the bennies.

If LA were Europe I would feel hate for you all instead of love. I say we embrace the ridiculousness of our surroundings. Forget about Paradise, Hell can be quite a bit of fun.
