Can I just say, for the record, KOREA TOWN IS WACK!!!
Sure it has semi-affordable rent if you're looking to move to L.A., but I dont know anyone who says, "you theres this dope spot in K-TOWN"........
Then again I dont know anyone either.
Is Jumbos is K-Town? Or is that considered Hollywood? If in K-Town, I take this all back.
I still dont understand how this shit all works in Los Angeles

damn you don't know wtf you are talking about.
ktown is the SHIT, fool.
First, it's right in the middle of EVERYthing. Therefore, it is equidistant from everything in LA.
Second, it's a trip. You go to hollywood, you see a lot of fucken hipsters and wanna-bes all trying to "be seen" or whatever...a bunch of fucken posers up there. In Ktown, you see some trippy ass shit and you are around REAL people. And by trippy ass shit I mean the crazies on the streets, the down ass Koreans, I mean the fucken LA riots went down right around here, this place has mad history.
Third, Ktown has some REALLY cool bars. R Bar is by far my favorite bar in LA and I used to live a block away it was sweet. Then there is Barcade, and I am not a 'clubber' at all (unless I am in Buenos Aires, of course) but I know that Ktown is known for it's club scene and nightlife.
TRIPPIN fool you shouldn't speak of shit which you do not know.

what?
Ive lived in Korea Town...
Its not dope (in my mind)... sure its close to a lot, but that dont mean much about K-Town... Ive never thought it was anything special.
My memories of K-Town involve climbing apartment buildings and fighting with Korean gangsters (or rather, trying to non-violent not cooperate with their threats)... outside the 7-11 on 6th near kenmore. K-Town is like the place people move to, when the surround areas are too expensive... I agree when others just see it as an straight up city: buildings and cars. Not much more.
Barcade is just an arcade bar... how many days a month do you wan to do that??? Its kind of cool though i guess if youre into that... Overall K-Town is apartment buildings, a little strip on Wilshire of spots i would never go to, and shit... what else? a few hole in the wall spots here or there?
Once Cuffs turned into a little bar on Hyperion I gave up on Los Angeles.

why you gotta come here with it

Any bar that serves red stripe is a good bar to me, worthy of multiple visits. But how often do you need to go to a bar anyways? not often.
I'm not saying Koreatown is the best place in the world, but it's still cool, and I like living here. You "used to live" here and although that may be what your "memory" is, this neighborhood has not remained stagnant from however the hell long ago you used to live here.
the best neighborhoods in my mind are the ones that aren't that great on the surface. When you have to dig deep to find the cool shit. Where you have to look hard and you find that diamond in the rough..When you find something cool where you least expect it, to me, is much better than finding something cool in fucking silverlake, where it's already been run over by hipster ass trust fund babies.

Let me tell you something, I much prefer bums to rich yuppies. At least they are entertaining. But there's plenty of crazies in Hollywood, too.
My point is that people in ktown aren't a bunch of fake fucks that annoy the crap out of me. They are real people living their lives, right smack dab in the middle of the biggest town of fakes there is.
maybe y'ou all who grew up here (in LA) or whatever are just jaded to all this shit. I for one find it interesting and take pleasure in it.

This is like people who say Riverside sucks.
You people have to have a hundred other people think something is cool, or having big blaring signs to point to what is cool FOR you, in order for you to like something, instead of looking and figuring out what is cool for yourself.

to be honest... im around K-town all the time...
Im not against a lot of the gentrifide areas in Los Angeles, there is good and bad to it. It just happens... but honestly K-town is really just sadly located in the middle of a larger city. It has been developed into a building first, car second, people last area.
Try finding a street you can ride your bike on with your family around there. Maybe as you get closer to Melrose there are some more homes with wide streets with less traffic, but most of K-Town is traffic and buildings...
thats my experience....
Whatever though... ive lived in areas of L.A. where the Jews run the section and you cant find a bar for miles... but you can find parks, open roads to ride with a kid...
whatever, L.A. is dope, period.
If I moved, it would be out of state or country... no where else in socal is worth it to me....

The whole
Seinfeld shtick revolved around taking some small aspect of daily experience, dissecting it into its absurd components and wallowing in them neurotically for 21 minutes. Such is the nature of observational humor. If you find that funny, it's funny; if you don't, it's not.

I think the difference is that in
Seinfeld, all the characters are terrible human beings. Seriously, every one of them is a homunculus of all the basest aspects of human nature. In
Curb Your Enthusiasm, at least you get the sense that the characters
mean well when they're acting like assholes.
