The City of Los Angeles, Department of Transportation (LADOT) has announced the closure of several streets in the Downtown area before, during and after the funeral service and procession for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff, Juan Escalante. The funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels. The procession from City Hall to the Cathedral begins at 8:25 a.m. These street closures will begin as early as 6:30 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 p.m.
Street Closures:
Beginning at 6:30 a.m.:
Hill Street between Ord Street & 1st Street
CastelarCastelarCastelar Street between Ord Street & Cesar Chavez Avenue
Temple Street between Grand Avenue & Spring Street
Northbound Grand Avenue between 1st Street & 110 Freeway on-ramp and off-ramp
Contingency Closures:
Eastbound Temple Street between Beaudry Avenue and Grand Avenue
You will be able to cross Temple Street at:
Broadway
Spring Street
Southbound Grand Avenue
Hope Street
The procession that follows the funeral service is expected to proceed northbound on Grand Avenue to the 110 South on-ramp just before Cesar Chavez.
Detour Routes:
To the north - Cesar Chavez Avenue, 101 Freeway
To the east - Spring Street, Main Street
To the south - 1st Street, 2nd Street
To the west - Figueroa Street, Beaudry Avenue
