Hey trickmilla... what's the avg speed for the ride? Checkpoints? I'm really interested in joining but wouldn't want to be left behind in a city I'm not familiar with. Thanks...

umm...'DARK' CENm. I put the quotes in to emphasize the dark part....[laughs]. Yeah...come on out Spiral...we re-routed around the part at the end of Sunset that you recommended against.

We look out for eachother and stay in groups. I wouldn't recomend doing this ride on a beach cruiser or a double suspension mountain bike. But anbody in decent shape and a road worthy road, track, touring, or city bike, should be able to hang.
I am hoping we will be able to be back by 11ish so people can have a minute to chill before the last train.
Sorry about the CRUZZ with us conflict. But part of the spirt of this ride is to get some good long night riding in. We wanted to start later, but made an early (lighted) start time so people could have access to the train.

Is the ride going clockwise or counter clockwise (in relation to the map)?

We start at olvera st. then head to the beach. then back up through the city into pasadena and back.
if you look at the flyer linked above it actually names off the neighborhoods in order to give you a sense of the route.
Short answer: "Counterclockwise"

Hey Spiral, I think it's totally possible to make the Gone Wild Ride, especially if you take off after we come back from Santa Monica, but before we start heading north towards Pasadena. That's my plan for now.

Eric, thats a good point.
Anybody dedicated to going to the Cruzz ride could break off at washington and alameda and ride up to union station.
It could be close ... but i think it would work.

UPDATE FROM THE ROAD:
I scouted the 100 km ride a couple of weeks ago with some really cool people. I added some distance on the east end the other day. I will be riding that portion again to look for a possible stop and any hazards that I've missed before.
AND--last weekend Sc_Nomad, Stacy and I scouted the big 100 mile ride that will happen on the night of June First. They are such good people to ride with. We got the route 98 percent ironed out. I'll be working with SoapBoxLA and illuminate LA to tweak and refine the LA to Hollywood to the LA river patth portion.
Everything is working out very well, so far. I am excited about the metric on the 28th of this month....and I am excited about the big hundred mile ride under the full moon and stars on June 1. I hope a bunch of people can make it out.

Okay, Gordo and I just re-scouted the metric--with the miles I added into Pasadena. It is such a fun ride. The climb up into Pasadena is not too hard at all. I was worried about that part, but after we rode it--we think this is doable in the second third of the ride for pretty much anyone in decent shape who rides their bike more than a few times a month.

Not at all. You will feel itl. But, you can do it. Someone already scouted this route with me on a track bike. I did add a few miles into Pasadena, but I think the ride is track bike epic. Yeah, trackster!

mannnn....sorry i couldn't make it out without notice too. i totally forgot it was yesterday cuz it was my friend's bday. he was gonna cancel it because he has some serious family issues, but then i came down to give him some support because he was kinda "out of it". and i'd feel really guilty leaving him like that to go ride my bike. so there's always next time. i'll see u at the Badger for sure.

Yeah, I'll second what's already been said: great ride everybody! My thanks to the organizers.
The diversity of sights and experiences over the course of 69.99 miles was truly remarkable. Coming home we got to roll through the set-up for Fiesta Broadway, which was closed to cars, but not bicycles, haha! Lots of riding and not enough sleep this weekend.

Hey, youandyourbluebike! Thanks for helping scout this one. Your idea to hit Abbot Kinney was worked out so well. We ate some pizza and hung out with the locals. I have your bar tape and pedals with toe clips ready to go in a grocery bag. I'll get them to you soon.
