If you don't get a proper brace so it can heal properly, you're going to end up looking like Cole.
But at least you wont look like Eddie.

No, Eddie is fine. I was just trying to make a funny.. I love eddieboy.
Lots of people have broken their collarbones, Cole, Gopes, Stevestevesteve, Danny Zucko, Myself, and many more.
I can tell you to at least go to a clinic or a county hospital if you dont have insurance, and make sure that everything will heal back properly.
You are not going to be able to do much for a month. Unless you are an animal. Wear the proper shoulder brace and take calcium. Get some vicodin too.

May be a little harder to breathe.. (mine was). So, be sure to do a good bit of walking or light cardio to keep your lungs clear... Especially since it's now colder out &/or if ya a smoker (tobacco).

get yourself into a figure 8 brace and take 2000 mg of calcium daily, depending on your age it will heal eventually on it's own.
bump.

Make sure you really stretch when you are able to start rehab. I never had pain like my broken shoulder, I ended up not getting enough "range of motion", and I get a "frozen shoulder". I now have better range of motion in the one I broke.
Sorry to say it, but, Welcome to the club!
Maybe it's comments like that but, I'm such a jerk I still get the 'cold shoulder' sometimes in public.

Bummer. I broke my collarbone last month, and I know how un-fun it is. Ditto on everyone's advice above. See a doctor. Get a "figure eight" clavicle brace. A sling wouldn't be a bad idea either for the first couple weeks - it'll help remind you not to move when you shouldn't be moving. Take your vitamins. Once you're healing, do some exercises to maintain your range of motion. Obviously, a doctor should be able to give you more specific advice, but here's a
general guide for rehabilitating after breaking your collarbone, which are pretty similar to the advice that the orthopedist gave me. You might heal more quickly or slowly than average depending on your particular circumstances.
The rehab exercises help you gauge how well you're healing. Just don't push too hard or you might injure yourself again. This week, I stopped wearing the brace and was feeling pretty good. But then I kind of forgot I was broken and leaned the wrong way on the edge of a chair, which dislodged the healing bone, probably setting me back at least a week. So be careful.
