I was towing an empty trailer yesterday morning up Hesperia Rd when I notice some dude hauling ass on a bicycle going the opposite direction.
At first I think it's just another roadie, but as I got closer, I noticed the typical apparel of a fixed-gear pilot, and then I got a look at the bike.
Sawed-off risers, pearl-white frame finish, and front aero-spoke rim.
I guess the word has somehow spread up here, or the punk-bitches who stay inside/drive during cold weather have finally grown some Grapefruits.

I did a double-take and actually slowed to his speed as he passed, no brake-levers, or calipers to be seen anywhere.

Probably just someone who got left behind when the campers left over the weekend. He's trying to ride home, but having to constantly skid and trackstand in order to astound bystanders at every intersection have slowed him way down.

I could go for that too.

Aside from this guy, there's this other dude out in Apple Valley who remains the only person who actually utilizes his machine in everyday use.
The fact alone that you can't coast on these things makes Joe Sixpack go crying to his mommy.

I hear there are fixed-gear riders in Bakersfield and Fresno. It's spreadling like a deadly virus. Soon kids in Peoria, Illinois will be doing skids, trackstands and wearing those hipster tight jeans rolled up a the hem. Is there no hope for humanity?
