Enci is shooting a film, here in Hollywood. There's not much unique about that except that the film is being produced sustainably. The objective is to tell a big story with a small footprint.
Our equipment pickups and returns will be performed by "Greensters" on bicycles with trailers and that is why I write. (No offense to our Teamster friends, it's just that this is a job for the Greensters!)
If you have a bike trailer and are available on Thursday, July 16th and/or Friday July 17th for pickups, Friday, Sat and Sun for the shoot and/or Monday for returns, please give us a shout.
Fox (of all people) actually made this season of 24 "carbon neutral" but they ultimately had to plant a bunch of trees because there was only so much they will willing to do in terms of cutting emissions.
It looks like you guys are on to a model that is truly green/ carbon neutral/ sustainable.
I don't have a trailer. so here is a bump for the mules.

This is a labor of love. If you have a bike, a trailer, a xtra-cycle, or anything that can haul gear without burning petrol, and a few hours to lend to the cause, we would love to have your contribution.
The Greensters will also be featured in the Documentary that is being shot about this film, which will be submitted to the BFF as well as other Film Festivals.

Those guys that are making that one film that Katie's working on has a bad ass trailer. It's a long flat bed. Seeing how you're both into filming and stuff, you might want to see if you can borrow it. After all, this trailer isn't something that one would use everyday unless they do alot of hauling.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying they should just pay their way to "green" instead of actually making the effort to change they way things are done?
Thank you for jumping in! Really means a lot! We'll be picking up gear and possible props on Friday, the 17th. Saturday and Sunday will be small and local errands. Easy! Money can't pay off the devastating effects of Global Warming. When we start loosing our waters because of heat and pollution, when more and more people are suffering from asthma, allergies and other ailments due to smog, when wars will break out du to drastic climate change, no money will help.
Also, the idea with cyclists is to maintain the neighborhood that we're shooting in as usual. No big trucks on residential streets, no more ticketing and towing of local resident's cars because "we paid off the city to get space for our big trucks". No air and noise pollution.
We are trying to do away with as little impact as possible. We won't use plastic nor styrofoam cups, dishes, containers nor utensils, plastic bags, etc. Lots of thought has been put into filming my childhood story, sustainably. There should never be an excuse to be wasteful, to pollute, to trash our planet, no matter what the cost or how poor or rich one person is.
The more cyclists can help us out, the quicker and the easier we can haul, and the more fun we will have! And with your help, we can show the industry and the world that things can be done without cars. Woohoo! :-)
The Greensters rocked, handling all of the transpo needs for the entire production. From grip & electric to shopping at farmers markets every day to supporting the shoot and serving as camera-bike, the Greensters did it all.
The production itself was an inspiration and raised the standard of "barn-raising" film production. Folks from all over pitched in, we ate fresh food off china and with cutlery, eschewing the disposable options and enjoying the sustainable life.
We composted on set (Three different composts! - Who knew?) we had a zero waste commitment, some cast and crew rode bikes and took the metro for the first time, it was great to see so many people try some new elements of intentional behavior, myself included.
Through it all, the Greensters and the Rebels developed into a community that is together long after camera wrap. Coming to a neighborhood near you soon!
