Suggest a bike light

Hey guys, im in the market for a new bike light. There is that common one i see a lot that has like 3 or 4 lcds, but i dont see that being too usefull for rider night vision. Its more for visability to other cars, wouldnt u say?
Anyone have a link to a light that actually assists in seeing at night?

there is a type of light that connects to a bttery that you can place in your bottle holder cage. the battery is recharge-able. someone on midnight ridazz has one and everytime he rolls up behind me I think there's a car cause the lights are so bright..... google time. I dont remember the name of the manufacturer or the model.

nightrider makes some really nice lights- they have a couple halogens with the rechargable battery packs, they also make a HID light which is VERY BRIGHT and the battery (also rechargable) lasts for 8 hours or something like that. Some even come with a spliter off the battery to run a rear light, but that will take away from your headlight burn time. have fun.

HID lights with lithium batteries destroy the darkness, and they do it at full power for four hours. They also destroy your financial stability. The older style lead acid batteries were really heavy and had many performance issues.
I need to go buy some lights. I'm thinking of throwing a light-themed ride for the holidays.

for actual bright lights...try to get some high wattage...whatever it is...
I think anything over 3 watts should be pretty bright..
of course, you'll have to balance high $$ with high wattage

Get a cranklight. A few cranks last you hours.
No batteries.

I have the Nigh Hawk Dual lighting system. A 10 watt light + a 20 watt light = some pretty serious illumination
It's definitely not light weight or made for off-road use, but for a little over $100 it allows me to commute from home down the South Bay bike path, which can be pitch black in places. I had problems at first with the wire connections constantly coming unhooked, but a little bit of black electrical tape solved that problem quickly.
It uses a Sealed Lead Acid battery (just like a car battery) that fits in a water bottle holder that is HEAVY. When I'm on city streets, I prefer the blinking LED lights you can buy for $15 to $50 at any LBS.

I couldn't find the thread where we were talking about this cheap light seen on ebay, but I just wanted to say that it was a good light. The only problem was that it didn't come with a mount! We worked it out and he gave it to me at half price. Even though it was advertised as being 3 watts, it wasn't brighter than the 1 watt Bike Planet light I have. In the end I gave it to my bro. He said he could use it as a flashlight.
I also ran across it
here cheaper at $6 shipped. Definitely not a bad light for the price.

If money is no object, HIDs are the brightest but they're really expensive. I have one for night mountain biking where the cost is worth it.. But for the road, I would suggest Niterider mini-newt. You can find one for around $100 and the lithium ion battery lasts forever per charge. Take the bulb section with you if you leave your bike outside somewhere. This is for more than the cars seeing you, this is for you being able to see the road well in complete darkness.

If $$$ is a object, go o any big hardware or auto parts store. You can find those small LED flashlights (with batteries) for like $3. Use some electrical tape, and tape it to your handlebars and it will work better than most $20+ lights. they don't flash, but they are bright as hell, and for $$$ you cant beat it! I actually use this on my bike with a 2nd one that flashes and the combo works great

roadblock, i think the guy you are thinking of is frank from block / wolfpack and he told me that his light was called a night sun.
