Secure the Perimeter!

Calling all the warriors of the bike tribe!!!
Bicykillers
CubCamp
GoGa
ROOT RUN
Venice Chill Ride
Wolfpack
and any other schools of battle:
Bike Town Beta is happening tomorrow and all there is to secure the perimeter of our village is a vague line on a map. Our people are not safe without us!
We want to see all the tribe's warriors strutting their stuff, flexing their muscles in a display of fitness and bravery, patrolling the perimeter of the village at an intimidating and formidable pace in order to protect their people from (4-wheeled?) threats outside the village walls.
Bike Town Beta needs you!!!
We are going to set up a "pit-stop" area at a suitable vantage point on the perimeter with some chairs for spectators/supporters and a cooler full of water for the riders who need to take a break from the perpetual pace line that will circle the event from start to finish.

The last time the Hpister was in Westwood a gang of douchebag Ferrari drivers beat me up and forced me to drive an F430. It was disgusting. Can you guarantee there won't be any douchebags driving Ferraris?
Hpister de Tocqueville10.24.08 - 2:27 pm

Ferrari driving douchebags abound, we patrol anyway. There is no escape from douchebaggery but we can out-number and out-macho them. I'd wager that Nancy and Tracy can out-macho any man in a Ferrari because they clearly have more gumption and less to compensate for.
To clarify: we don't actually want to keep cars out of bike town beta. We just want to put on a display of territorial claiming for those outside the boundary of Bike Town Beta. It's a wall of speed and spokes insulating the community inside. We don't want trouble with the law so we will observe traffic laws whenever necessary but make no mistake, we will ride hard and fast through nothing but right turns for 4 hours.
If you want to jump into the pack at any point, feel free. If you want to drop out for a bit to checkout something inside the bounds of bike town, feel free. As long as our warriors are out on patrol, our village can rest at ease.

Right now, I'm tentatively inclined to say that we'll be starting at the intersection of westwood/broxton/kinross a little before 6 so that we can kick off Bike Town on the hour. Location may change depending on a few factors involved in our pit-stop setup.
Props to Jakuta for coming up with this idea last night between beers and ROOT RUN ritual/ride flashbacks.

if you have enough Ridazz, why not have some going counter-clockwise, too?

I was totally thinking that we could have a left turn pack and a right turn pack but it will depend on how many warriors show up.

Withinin proximity of the area, we should leave components and spare parts strewn about as if some sort of cycle-cultural -explosive detonated there. Riders should perch opon the highest crests of the city, employing voyer to this new-found monstrosity.
Thus determaning our rightful entry for domination.

Sick.
I was gonna go to Bike Town Beta to just go and be a part of this amazing new cycling community. But now, you've raised the fucking bar.
@ UCB:
I don't ride with the rides listed above, but I would love to be on the perimeter. Is that possible? If so, do I wear colors? And should I bring my tallbike or my fixedgear?

If your choice is between a tall bike and a fixed gear, go with the fixed. We are not going to be moseying around the perimeter, we are going to be riding fast and hard. Anyone who wants to join in is welcome to but don't be in the way and don't do anything stupid. Ride responsibly and push yourself as hard as you can.

Way to go with tagline there, UCB.
But, SG-1's going to be working the North Slope that night.
But, then again, never underestimate the power of "cameo-appearances".

Damn I wish I could be in two places at once, this sounds like mad fun. When's this going down? We got the ALC 09 training kickoff rides from Griffith Park in the morning, but in the afternoon a bit of BIKE TOWN LOVIN might hit the spot!

So... for those interested in doing other distance rides tonight...
BIKE TOWN BETA LOOP (~0.8-0.9 Miles / lap)
Time of event (4 hours)
How many laps can u do in an hour! Right turns make it EZ!!!!!
Think of the distance you could cover ....
prepare ... ROOT ROOT ROOT
Jakuta10.25.08 - 4:41 pm

I put on 48 laps for a total of around 38miles of all-out hustling. Apparently your village had no other warriors to protect it?! I did what I could. Direct your "fail" inward.
Undercover Bob10.26.08 - 11:22 am
reply
I wasn't feeling that loop that early in the night.
I circled for about 11 miles but had enough of the crazy ammounts of PEDESTRIANS ... who I was more worred about hitting the cars...
Westwood's lights SUCKED ... always red and turning onto Wilshire from that sucked....
Had it been later at night or NOT AT WESTWOOD village .... protecting the boarders wouldve been much more fun...
Also the fact cops were stalking us and camping out behind the BERTHA didnt help matters really.
The idea was good...
Jakuta10.26.08 - 12:41 pm
reply
Yea the idea was good, but the traffic and stuff made it kind of a drag...and the the peds in Westwood freak me out whenever I go over there.
