Congratulations to the Blue Footed Boobies four women fixed gear team on their finish in 32:28!
509 miles and 35,000 feet of climbing and descending, finishing about a half hour ahead of the four man fixed gear team, and in front of a lot of teams on geared bikes. They were even passing geared riders on the downhills (they each had to pick one gear and ride it for all their parts of the race-- no changing to a big gear for the descent)!

Gearing were b/n 69 to 79 gear inches. Bea was running 49 x 18 which she said would have been perfect if it wasn't for the headwinds. The decents were also a factor since the girls hit speeds over 35 mph.

Jay ran about a 76 inch gear-- she was on a borrowed bike with 650 wheels, so she ran a 46x15. She might have run a little bit bigger gear, but she had to climb Townes Pass, which she had been warned was horribly steep.
And they couldn't switch people except at the checkpoints, so they couldn't have a designated descender in a bigass gear.
It sounded like the 4 men fixed gear team were all running gears smaller than 70 (66 or so).
