I've been working for the last couple of years with a bunch of people in North East LA to have bike lanes installed on N. Figueroa St. and Colorado Blvd. A lot of different people have done lots of different things to see that we get some bike lanes, going back at least to 2009.

The local news coverage has focused on how the lanes will slow car traffic (basically not very much, but you wouldn't know it by reading the articles and comments from bike lane haters).

The guy who owns this paper is a liar: he lied in his paper about how much motorist delay can be expected, he lied about the demographics of the pro-bike lane people, and he's decided that all is fair when trying to stop bike lanes from being installed.

"I am sick and tired of kids getting in my way while I leisurely commute to Glendale via surface street driving 50mph! Keep them off the streets and in front of the T.V. where they belong. And shame on them for being overweight and asthmatic! Go to a gym and get some exercise like a normal person. For shame. The streets were made for cars, as they were in biblical times - except back then it was mostly dinosaurs and people riding them but you get the idea."
