Hey! I was wondering if anyone knew of any shops that have inner-tube recycling programs? In S. Carolina there was a shop that would give you a free tube for every 10 that you bring in to recycle. Anything like that in this town?
Barley, does your girl still make those wallets out of inner-tubes?

I make the wallets....I stopped for a long while...26" x 2.125 work best for the outside of the wallets.
here's a step by step diy on making them...i do them slightly different though..mine are hand stitched with embroidery thread.

Two of my local bike shops informed me that they send their tubes to a small company that re purposes them.
The shops are Pasadena Cyclery and Open Road Bicycles (in Pasadena). I'm sure other shops do this is well and probably many do not.
Ask your local bike shop if they recycle inner tubes. If not, let them know about these bikes shops that are. This company provides boxes and covers shipping charges.

What is patching really a lost art now?
I was just talking about this to Harry last night. No body patches their tubes anymore! How bout repairing your tubes you environmentally sensitive ridazz? That's the best way to recycle them.

That's how I usually handle all my repairs, patch the hole and save the spare for when the valve gets ripped off.
There was one time I patched a tube so much, the entire thing felt like a chunky, thorn-proof'r.
