When Lance Armstrong found out his bike had been stolen, he took immediate action, using today’s top technology.
He posted this message at Twitter: Whoa!! They just came to my room and said our truck was broken into and someone stole my time trial bike! Wtf?!? APB out to the twitterati.
Armstrong’s time-trial bike was stolen from the Team Astana truck during the night before Sunday’s Stage One of the Tour of California.
Twitter is a social network that allows users to post and read messages up to 140 characters in length. Armstrong’s can be found at twitter.com/lancearmstrong. He later posted this message with a picture: A pic of the stolen tt bike. There is only one like it in the world therefore hard to pawn it off. Reward being offered.
By late afternoon, there were two dozen comments to that post, mostly from distraught fans. Some of whom apparently were so saddened, they had trouble typing.
Armstrong rode the bike to a 10th-place finish Saturday in Sacramento during the Tour prologue.
A few hours after the time trial, someone removed four bikes from the Astana truck outside the team hotel in Sacramento.
Armstrong’s time-trial bike, which was closest to the door because he was delayed by a post-race trip to doping control, was taken along with race bikes belonging to Astana teammates Steve Morabito, Yaroslav Popovych and Janez Brajkovic.
The racers all have backup bikes, and Armstrong won’t need his time-trial bike again until Friday in Solvang, where the race holds its second time trial.
As for the race, Armstrong is still among the leaders even though Sunday featured drenching rain and a flat tire. He finished fifth in the 107-mile stage, though he was awarded a finish time identical to that of 17 other riders in a large peloton that finished 67 seconds behind stage winner Francisco Mancebo.
Afterward, Armstrong posted again on Twitter: Had lots of ?’s re: the status of the stolen bikes. Still no sign of them.

Drugs or no drugs, dude can ride and he has done more to raise cancer awareness and charitable funds for that cause than anyone I can think of. The real performance enhancement that led to such big victories was that his team completely changed the game of how team dynamics worked in pro cycling. Previously most teams were guys put together and they would kind of decide based on who was doing the best who to be their contender for the yellow jersey. With Armstrong a team dynamic was created where they trained together rigorously and from the get go everyone knew Lance was the ace rider and everyone worked to ensure his victory. Winning multi-stage road races has as much to do with strategy and team work as it does personal strength.

I love the hating on the guy who's going to kick your ass on a race every time.
As for the whole closed-course smack talk, yeah, whatever, most streetraces go by chance, and how stupid you're willing to run a red in front of a car for hipster cred.

no but srsly, that guy gets too much credit anyways. that's why i don't like him. no humility. sure he has the titles to back him up but still, a douchemonger.
most courageous rider during a 2.3mi TT is the most bullshittest jersey handed out in my opinion, but the sponsors will do anything just to get lance on the stage.
i think if he wont the TT, he probably wouldn't have gotten that courageous jersey

haha it really sounds more intimidating than it is.
although this week is not an easy week. our squad needs to relax a bit, so you should join us next week, we'll take it easier.
and my hatred for these riders is more of a competitive hatred. i hate em so hard, i want to beat em.
