Eric Hair:
Hahaha! i can't believe you remember that... well, it was a bit ear piercing. sadly, i won't be in town for the ride the "XXXXXXXXXX, rock n' roll! rock n' roll!!! rock n' rooooooollll!!!!!" shame.
oh this ride is definitely on! I was talking to a couple spots downtown but neither of them seem to be coming through (I will find out for sure tomorrow) so the good folks at the Bike Oven have graciously allowed for the use of their space for the METAL PARTY KARAOKE JC/DC jacuzzi of death!! Thanks to Ratt Bones especially!
flyer will go up tomorrow... damn where is BOOTLEGGER! I was counting on some kick axe graphics for this one! :)
Try not to destroy too much stuff y'all. We are setting up an art show for Saturday night. More about that here, so there will be a wall-sized illustration and a lot of photographic prints on one wall.
ubray.... man you might best be advised to wait till after befroe you put up the artworkl, I am more than happy to help you hang the stuff after but even people trying to be careful might lean the wrong way or stumble... you know how it goes! The bike oven is going to rock! good thing there is a park on the other side of the street!
Yeah, that is a good point. I am going to get some plastic sheeting for the books and the large wall painting going in tonight.
ratt_bones is handling this one, so I'm sure you two have already talked about how you're going to set things up. Come by this week, if you can, and figure out a good direction to position the band and keep things street legal (if ratt_bones hasn't figured it out already - he likely has).
Still, this is going to be a badass night. We're also going to take part in the Silver Lake Art Crawl on the same night.
hmmmm does anyone happen to have a karaoke laptop or machine with heavy metal songs on it... ugh the person who was gonna loan his equip can no longer do it....
looks like the singer of JCDC is gonna be too sick to ride. He's got a cold, might make it but then again might not... any bands out there want to step in and rock this? the after party will still be at the bike oven
trickmilla - you on a mac or pc? if you're on a mac, there's a great (free) program called bits on wheels that you can use to open and download those torrent files. There's also BitTorrent for PC or Mac.
is there a route mapped out for this ride yet? i have to split early and i'm trying figure out where to park my car (somewhere near the halfway piont). i have to get to the airport that night.
and is there any chance in hell that we are going to start close to 10:00?
ok here's the scoop.... the singer of our ac/dc tribute band is sick!!!
but we've decided to play anyway AND if anyone out there has the ballzz we're gonna play AC/DC karaoke! anyone who thinks they can rock the brian johnson or the bon scott COME rock out!!!!!!
some sabbath, some maiden, some motorhead, some carcass, some darkthrone, some mayhem, some thin lizzy, some metallica, some mercyful fate, some death, some melvins, some hirax, do you see where this is going?
don't forget the older stuff that I like......like the pseudo stuff, like Ratt, Cinderella, BuckCherry, Fastway, and Motely Crue. For all the Bible readers, a little Stryper, but probably don't have that. I was going to start a request thread, but i can't go, so, I say who cares, f_*% all ya all, I just going to stay home and download old Heavy Metal Videos, and ride on my trainer with a beer. I'm so lame,... La Har can I borrow your sweatshirt?
If I was there, I would be requesting, Van Stone, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, Sea Hags, Saxon---demin and leather or Power and Glory, Queensryche, WASP, mtochrist, Krokus, Judas P, RJDio/BS-Neon Knights, Armored Saint-False Alarm, and of Course Ace of Spades...... but I won't, so don't worry about my request, unless you recognize the Glory of those bands.....................
Forecast calls for Rain from 10p - 6am tonight.....I hope it changes very very soon.
BigBikeDan will most likely not bring the stereo out if it looks like rain.
Give him a call to be sure.
I hope this doesn't turn into the Safety Ride 1, if it does and there is no music, I say RBI, create a play list, post it,,,everybody set it in there Mp3, or whatever music player. Put on the headphones and you can all headbang in sync, while you peddle together.
Down with hair bands! Has anyone ever seen decline of the western civilization 2, the metal years? It's ok to be gay and all, but I draw the line at transsexuals. That shit's just weird Be sure to bring real metal with ya!.
That man is from my country. He good signer, but not with the Heavy Metal. Please play Scorpions, Rammstien , Aria, Ba'Al, Oktagon, Ashen Light, Gamma Ray, Sorrowful Gods, Nargaroth, Accept, Mega Herz, Grave Digger, and Gorky Park.
Safety Ride #1 ruled! What are you talking about? All the wimps and hipsters scurried home and everybody else rode around and got soaked and watched the light show in the sky. What more could you ask for?
There is a thik line between the drag displays of Metallica, Van Halen, The Misfits, Slade, Toy Dolls, Twisted Sister and drag shows I have seen in the gayest of bars.
Really whats the big difference if sombody comes in pink zebra spandex and long feathered hair (ala =VH=) and throwing in a little eye shadow and lipstick for good measure?
Oh yes I will love to see Motorhead, Judas Preist, and Slayer in the house. But dude ... long hair, fringe, sequnes are a must on a bike ride!
I never saw the interest in wearing women's clothing. Not from Ratt to Marilyn Manson. It just plain baffles me. Not my thing, and not my swing.
I don't remember any era where Metallica, Van Halen, or The Misfits ever wore women's clothing (David Lee Roth being the acception), but okay. I'll go along with it. Well maybe Van Halen. I wasn't a big fan of them at all so they might have been.
Anyway, I was just being facetious.
I wouldn't want to ruffle any one's feathers on gender issues.
Rich (newb310) and I just got back not too long ago. After showers and bike drying sessions, I am still floored. I can't believe so many people showed up AND RODE THE WHOLE DAMN RIDE!!!!
Maybe there wasn't a ton of metal playing, but it was worth it to bike 20 miles in the rain, scream "Master of Puppets" riding up Broadway, and to see that ridiculously awesome AC/DC cover band.
Props to the ride creators and all who came out. I'll remember this ride for years to come.
Damn this ride was too DOPE!!!! A ride that people will be talking about for a long time. Im just sad that I didnt get a spoke card. Anybody got an extra one???
glad my bike could bring some rockin' to Broadway. We were late to the start cuz I was putting the finishing touches on the bike. I was stoked to find y'all on Broadway.
Soaking wet, spotted glasses - can't see shit, piloting an 80 pound stereo bike in the rain with Metal blaring behind me. Fuck yeah.
Anyways, it was a crazy night and we had a blast! See ya out there...
Driving to Echo Park it started raining and I thought that this would definitely hamper how many people would show up...and then more people showed up...and then some more.
I was amazed that so many people not only road but made it to the end. Fucking amazing.
I had a fucking blast.
It was also good meeting so many of the fuckers on this board.

I mean, it's good to finally know where most of the nonsense on this board is coming from.
that was the best Rain Ride ever!!! i didnt think we were going to do it the way the rain was comin down. thumbs down for the mad clothes dry off tho. it was hard to keep ur eyes open in that mess the faster u go.
I never knew riding in the rains was such a blast! I wish we could have ridden longer since we were all wet already. Anybody that posts a rain ride, I'm down!
Thanks to all that pulled this ride off. Mad props to Ratt_Bones, The Bike Oven, JC/DC, and to Eddy GOPez. I found my new rock god over the weekend!!!
Ok, this ride was FUCKING METAL!!
More metal than the songs played.
It was Fucking hard core!
Ridazz in the rain?
Oh fuck yeah!
I made the mistake of telling everyone that I'd give them one dollar if they fell. I'm out nearly $20.00 One guy ate shit so hard I gave him a five spot. This was in the first mile. I had to duck out from the ride early in fear of damaging my camera equipment.
The rain caused little video or pictures to be caught, but fuck it! We all know how it went down!
Thanks to all of you who helped me out in pulling off the afterparty.
Thanks to RoadBlock and ec/dc for rocking the Oven's roof right the fuck off! And of course thanks to the guys who supplied the free Sparks! They are also sponsoring the Halloween pre-party at the Oven. Oh yeah, before I forget....thanks to all of ya from the Bicycle Kitchen!! You guys are metal!
So here it is. The Official HEAVY METAL MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ video!!!
Haha, for those of you with a strong connection that like better quality video, watch the "Rich Version. It's an mp4.
For those of you with a crappy laptop or dial-up, you can still enjoy this fine film short on a wmv format. The quality is shrunk down to be accepted by YouTube.
No worries man!
It did take a few hours to clean the inch or so of water and mud, and beer, and sparks, and heavy metal sweat off of the floor, but it was fucking worth every second of it! If nothing else, the local bums were very happy to have 20 lbs of aluminum and glass to cash in the next morning. It was also a good feeling to return a $1,200.00 mountain bike that fell off of a truck outside the Oven back to it's original owner.
The first people to crash were in the first several blocks before hitting Alameda. Haha, that's where I paid out the cash. I couldn't imagine it was much more fun to crash in the tunnel where the ground is a bit dryer and stickier. I hope all is cool and every one is over all ok.
Freaking great video!! That pic... was that Friday's spoke card?? I didn't get one. Wish I did cause that's a freaking great spoke card!! ROCK ON RIDAZZ!!
Juat gotta say: this was my 25th Midnight Ridazz and while they have all been magic in one way or another, this one was special. My first Midnight Ridazz was the Heavy Metal Ride (part one), so this one had extra significance for me, and after being out of town for last month's ride, there was no way I was going to miss this one, rain or (moon)shine.
Great to see some of the old timers out again! I was surprised at how many people stuck it out to the end, but the afterparty made the drenching all worthwhile. Thanks to Roadblock for getting the band out; I know you had your doubts when your singer died, but the fill-ins rose to the occasion. The rock n roll show must go on!
I didn't see any crashes myself, but then I didn't see much of anything at all . . . the rain is really tough when you wear glasses. And I'm still trying to get my Brooks saddle back into shape; those things don't like to get wet.
I have no idea who was up front pacing this ride, but you guys did a great job in keeping the ride together. And finally, extra special thanks to the Oven crew for hosting the party!
