If you are registered Democrat, and still want to vote for a progressive candidate for President. Mike Gravel is still actively running.



or you can take Sen. Gravel's advice; get together with people of political like minds, and make the necessary changes that will make our government act in our interest, not the interest of the rich.

Heard Mike Gravel speak on Saturday at the Circus gallery in Hollywood. Good guy. I'll vote for him.

But (and I know you don't want to hear that Sexy) I'll be happy with any Democrat who wins in November.

I got this from a friend who is a precint captain for obama. I thought I'd repost in here:



To my friends and family,


When this election season started, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world
that we might have a woman president. Despite this, I have realized there are even
bigger things at stake. The contrasts are large, and the stakes are enormous.
Tomorrow, for the
first time in memory, Californians will be essentially selecting the
next President.
I have become a precinct captain for Obama.
Here are my reasons:


1.
WAR. Clinton voted to authorize this disastrous war, and now tries to
avoid responsibility, much like Bush does. She is bellicose on Iran
and the War on Terror. This is not
good leadership or judgement, but short-sighted pandering to the weekly
polls. The country, and the world, can't afford this thinking anymore. Obama
demonstrated courage and good judgement on these and other issues,
and is more steadfast on ending the war.

2. ELECTABLITY. Polls demonstrate
Obama would beat McCain. But McCain would kill Clinton with independent votes, and
her stance on the war
would prevent her from attacking him on the biggest failure of the GOP
in the last 8 years. McCain's campaign finance work vs Clinton's
lobbyist money would hurt her. Obama would beat McCain on all these
issues. Clinton's negatives are around 50% - that's too high. She could never pull
as large a vote as Obama, which means less Democrat congress coattails, and less
mandate, even if she won.

3. UNIFICATION. I think Clinton is intelligent, but not a
natural politician or unifying leader. She is polarizing. She cannot
attract independents. She then moves to the right to try to fix this.
For example, in 2006 she dropped to a 71/100 LCV environmental score,
compared to Obama's 100/100 (http://presidentialprofiles2008.org). Obama is not
only inspiring and unifying -
attracting Independents and Republicans, many of whom have told me they would vote
for him in November - but more progressive.

4.
EXPERIENCE. Obama has 11 years elected political experience in two legislative bodies,
Clinton has 7 in one. Obama also has a brilliant resume before this: Magna
Cum Laude Harvard Law, President of the Harvard Law Review, organizer,
civil rights attorney, constitutional law teacher. I respect Clinton's
accomplishments, but to
claim more experience is questionable. Obama has as much experience as JFK did.

5. MONARCHY. Electing presidential spouses is more characteristic of a 3rd world
country like Pakistan or the Phillipines,
which elect relations of former leaders in an undemocratic
line-of-succession. This is what we are in danger of becoming. Do we
want the GOP to next "clean up" by electing Jeb Bush, and then have us
answer with Chelsea Clinton 8 years after that? Our first woman
president should be elected on her own merits, not because she was
someone's wife.


6.
EXECUTION. Their various proposed packages are fairly similar. The
bigger difference is the ability to execute. Obama has a proven
ability to unify and deliver, Clinton has a proven ability to polarize
and fail. For example, each candidate has sponsored and passed health
care legislation. However, Clinton failed much of her health care
agenda in
93-94 despite a mandate from the President, and largely as a result of
this mismanaged effort they lost the House and Senate to the GOP. With
those high negatives, she'll just be filibustered and won't be able to
do anything.

7. BAGGAGE.
Political debt, loyaltiess, axes to grind, lobbyist money - Clinton has too much.
It hinders her.

8. CREDIBILITY. Clinton has run the typical fear-based,
lying, smear campaign. We are now post-post-9/11, and Fear has jumped the
shark. See Giuliani. Obama has run an honest, positive campaign. Obama
has profited from this with amazing political momentum, and he can win
the general election the same way. More importantly, he can get the
trust of Americans, which will allow him to exercise power more
effectively.


And most important:

9. BULLY PULPIT. Obama has
something I've never seen in a politician in my lifetime - he is
incredibly uplifting. With all the tangible powers of the Presidency,
this intangible is probably the most important.

Obama is the only one that can help us put our country back together again.

The person who had my current home number before me must have been a registered Republican (in addition to being bankrupt and dodging collection agents, apparently) because I have received 8 automated calls from McCain's campaign and 4 from Romney's. I'm getting sick of the McCain is more pro-life and pro-war (isn't that an oxymoron?) than Romney phone messages and vice versa.

What towlie said.
When you go to the polls tomorrow, ask for a democratic ballot.

Now someone we know was telling me that it doesn't matter what you are registered as... if you know the candidate's number.... for example Mike Gravel is 13... you can take the punch card alone (without the booklet) and punch/black out #13.... I thought that was brilliant but I doubt it's possible.

I think each card is marked on top with your party affiliation.
So if you are Green and vote for a democrat president your vote would become void. Worth checking out tomorrow...

Hey FBI we are not advocating vote fraud, just intellectually exploring the security/vulnerabilities of our voting system.
