Stemming of great New Years Day ride!!
Picture it
It's Sunday, its sunny, you're in L.A. You're groggy, hung over or just gotta hook it up for the following weekend..come out and ride, grab some fuel.Tune your spirit, there's a playground out there.
Many of us go on various rides and see familiar faces but never stop to get to know our fellow ridazz.Put the social factor in you ride routine...break the wall.We are such a diverse crowd how can we pass this off?
Objective:
*Keep spreading the Bicycle culture
*All inclusive (compromise on pace and dificulty)
*Community end point - strongly encouraged but not a must to ride, take off if you must.
i.e. get some grub,have a BBQ.
*Sunday loners like me to be alone together
*Do the same thing we did when we were kids, just ride with a bunch of other kids you did not know but ended up belonging in the pack.

I'm still thawing out from Vegas. I freakin' hate the cold and a day time ride is always a GO for me. Plus, my new work schedule for '07 is Tuesday - Saturday, so my Saturday morning/afternoon rides are now gone forever... and ever.

I was offline, just got back from Mammoth. Ate shit on the slopes and twisted my knee. I will probably try to scout Tuesday. I will start at a subway station and I'll be limited since I wanna keep it mellow for the newbies and families that showed up last time.
Raymond - u around?

I found a heatless laminating film (at staples) that i used to do the spoke cards for the NYD ride. It worked OK.

Bad news for me ... I'm starting a Job this sunday for the next 19 weeks. Looks I won't be rollin' out on a sunday until summertime.
I'm still down to help test the route. But you gotta hit me up soon.

Deesimple and Trickmilla -- I can get out on Saturday (all booked today, can't even do the UFO ride) to a staples and look for for the heatless laminating stock. If the artwork can be emailed and printed on a desktop printer then I could do that on Sat. Email me privately, jkoerber at ix.netcom.com.

Thanks Dee for organizing a fine ride.
High points -- Starting and ending near MTA stations, meeting new people, being able to bring along wife and son, riding to and around USC and downtown when traffic is so light, riding down the hill on Grand, giving a good collective MR yell & whistle in the 2nd street tunnel, finishing up at Grand Central Market for after-the-ride grub -- and getting to know y'all.
Be seeing you on more of the Ridezzzz.

great job, dee
There's no better way to see the city than on a bike. Genius idea to stop for food after the ride.

Man... I missed the ride. I rode to the Metro Redline station North Hollywood and got there @ 12:50. No way I would've got to you guys on time. So... I just turned around and rode by myself on the Chandler bike route in Burbank, blowing my Storm whistle and pedestrians on the path. I then rode down Victory and almost got side swiped by this old guy in an '88 Caprice Classic. It's not as fun when you're riding in a group. =(

I think you should leave the anthem untouched.
I along with my 11 yr old daughter (whom plays that thing over and over) can relate to it even if we are riding around the block. There is no wall limiting the idea that you can ride a bike at 1 or 20 miles per hour to be a MRidaa and feel included.
On the Sunday Under Da Sun RIde, which was posted as all inclusive ride;many of the "macho types" including myself showed up to support the newbies,a fifty year old couple with thier daughters,a couple and thier kid, Sexy and his dad on the tandem and many others that were cruising up a hill. Thanks SuperFish,Cole,Eric, and other WilfPack ridazz that showed.
It was a crawl , but these guys were happy to ride a slower pace then they are used to and the "inclusive" factor could not have been any stronger..
There's nothing wrong with my machismo showing as I ride my ass off listening to a tune as long as I know that just as easily I can ride with a bunch slow-fast paced, new, old, young, female, male riders and keep the objective in sight "Just Riding"
oh ohhh "Midnight Ridazz"!!!

DOH!!!!
Dang Dee... That's what I get for being a lagger. LOL... I sat at one of the benches there staring at the people coming up the escalator, running across the street, trying to catch the Orange Line. I did that for 15 min. I should've just went!! I guess the only reason why I didn't was that on the New Year's ride, I missed you guys by 2 min. The elevator doors opened at street level and I didn't see anyone. I had to yell out at people at the bus stop, "Where did the people w/ the bikes go?" LOL.. the all pointed down the street at the same time. Funniest thing to see. 5 people in sync pointing in the same direction. I did catch up though. How many people turned out? Mmm Grand Central. They've got some FAT burritos and tacos there. Ok... next time. When's the next ride? Daytime rides is a nice change from the Midnight rides. Not as cold... a little more traffic though. Does anyone know any cool laps to do around the Griffith Park area? I'm close to the bridge that turns into Victory. I know there's that Griffith Observ climb then coming down the northside into the Travel Town. Not that gung ho yet. I've ridden on Forest Lawn Dr going west towards Barham and I noticed no one going my way. Just the opposite. Going east from Barham. Do people go up Los Feliz.. Franklin... and then come down Barham to Forest Lawn? I need to lose some poundage and I like to ride my bike. Stationary bikes suck. Although it's kinda nice cause you can see the ladies but I do like the wind in my eyes... then they get watery. I need to by clear/amber glasses. I rode this one time and a bug got into my eye. Not cool... riding 5 miles w/ a bug in your eye. Alrighty... gotta go. Next time for sure!!!
