Frame bent question
Thread started by Avis_One at 06.12.09 - 11:53 pm

So I have a road bike frame and every time I put the rims on they shift to the right. Ive looked at the frame and it looks like it took a hit on the right side in the back where the rim goes so can this be fixed? or is this frame a lost cause?

reply

Steel frame or aluminum frame?

Steel frames are a lot more resilient than aluminum, so you may be able to bend it back. If it's aluminum it may be jacked.

It all depends on how big a hit you took. Call one of the bike co-ops and see if they have a frame straightener you can use.

Or just do this cool trick:

My bent is where the wheel goes on the right side which Im thinking thats what makes the wheel shift to the right or was it left I dont remember. Would that wood method still work?

Bike Co-op - aka a do it yourself bikeshop, where you pay by the hour and get stand time, access to tools, and people to help you fix stuff.

The 3 in L.A. are the Bikerowave, the Bike Kitchen, and the Bike Oven. (google for websites/directions/etc.)
