Keirin Frame Question!!!
Thread started by sal725 at 08.26.09 - 9:03 pm

Yo Fellas and ladies I got a question about a Keirin Frame its 53.5cm and the TT IS 54.....Now the thing is i'm 5"9 1/2 with a 32 inseam road bike wise I would be pointed to 55cm frame but in a Keirin frame would there be any sizing difference?

reply

Keirin means big and fast in Japanese.

That means you need a something smaller because there frames are so big and fast.

Start looking for something around 46cmo for your 32" inseam.

Make sure that frame has a real NJS stamp on it. There were reports of mass produced frames coming from China, being sold threw eBay (cheap) with a fake stamp. They are not real keirin frames!

beware!

If you're good at trig, you could figure out the sizing difference if you have the dimensions of each frame. Pure track frames tend to have a more compact geometry and the bottom bracket sits higher off the ground. Also, the steerer tube (and seat post) tend to have a higher angle. I would definitely do a bit more research into the dimensions of the frame you're looking into and compare it with your bike so you can get an idea if the new frame will sit longer current setup.

P.S. " = inches; ' = feet
