Reminder, and something I learned the hard way.
If you are ever struck by a car, it doesn't matter how nice the driver is about it, how much money they offer, how much it was a genuine accident.
CALL THE POLICE
You need an accident report to move forward with claims, medical, replacement bike, whatever it is you've got to do.
DO NOT WAIT ON IT. If you're in shock, ask someone else to call the police. This needs to be done at the scene or shit gets that much more complicated.

Thankyou for this. Also, when you get hit. If you are conscious, INSTANTLY think about getting the plate number and a good look at the driver. Do NOT get up unless you are still in grave danger. Focus all your energy on the plate. Repeat it over and Orr until you can text it to yourself or someone. Write it or record it to a voicemail even Twitter.
If you go down hard, do NOT try to get up. You may end up like one of the wp riders did about 2 years ago. You may end up injurig your spine and neck. Wait for the paramedics to move you. Wait for the police to come. Do NOT refuse the ambulance if the driver idntifies and stays at the scene.
Call a lawye immediately and get advice.

Yes!! Always, do it! No police report and you will be screwed, and just because a driver who hits you is being nice at the scene doesn't mean they will when you realize you broke your hand or turns out the frame is cracked.

Wish I did this back in '06 when myself and my beach cruiser got dusted by a Scion.

What do you do if you call 911 and the cops don't show up? This has happened to me multiple times.
If all you have is a license plate number and a vehicle make/model, can they really do anything with that if they don't catch the driver in the act? Don't you have to be able to prove who the driver was to press charges or make claims?

ha! now this is for if the driver stops, if its hit and run, still get the report immediately ? yess? and plates if you can

I try to always carry a sharpie in my pocket. Write the plates on my arm. I did it when DJ Wheel's girl went down on crank mob.
