I'm guessing this is for a fixed gear?

Get some Formula's like 90% of the wheel-sets you can buy come with.

There cheap and bomb proof if your use a real cog and lock ring.

really? how do you figure?

you can get a hub for around $100 - $200

plus phil wood makes some of the nicest hubs available, and they are practically bomb-proof.

What would corner phil wood into the hipster scene? Not only have they been making the items far longer than hipsters existed, but they cater to some of the most skilled riders in various genres of cycling.

If you have the dough, go for it. You probably wont ever have to buy another hub again.

RBI is correct... But when it comes down to it, Phil hubs and parts are great and I know the crew up there very well. I run the hubs because its one the last of a MADE IN AMERICA bicycle company.

The company Phil Wood was started back in the early 1970s and ever since then the main goal of the company has been to push the limits of the bicycle industry and make sure things keep progressing. They knew everytime the did something new that some giant company was going to copy them but they loved that because they knew it was what the bicycle industry needed to progress. They also knew from the start they couldn't stop the giants from stealing ideas, but they would have that small group of riders that follows them, that buys their higher quality products made in the USA, which in turn kept the lights on for about 40 years.

Sealed pedals - Credit goes to Phil Wood
Sealed Hubs - Much credit goes to Phil Wood
Bicycle disc brakes - much credit
Better Grease - Phil wood
Spoke cutting and threading machines for wheel building - Phil Wood
ect......

The list keeps going, when its all said and done, you are paying for the American Pride in the bicycle industry. I support them and buy there products, not everyone can afford them and the cheaper hubs are close in features but lack that hand built American pride that is fading away in the bicycle industry.

RIP - Schwinn we still love you
