Rickshaw fix

I think this might have got lost/buried in the Halloween thread, so:
" I need to repair the axle. If anyone has a large hydraulic press, or knows how to make a new axle (just a thick steel bar with some rifling on the end to screw the wheels on)."
Joseph, I think I can make an axle for that rickshaw if you're still in need. I'll have to come by the Oven to take some measurements. Is there a best time to drop by?

Wow, okay. That is great.
Dingo and Super Cole got a lot of use out of the rickshaw, so I know you will have their support in this as well. Just tell them when/where to start drinking in support of the rickshaw.
The rear axle is a solid piece of steel with a few machined bits toawrds the end, and a cog holder in the middle.
Right now, the axle has a bend in it - which casued the chain to fall off during heavy peddling. I fixed this problem with a custom fitted chain tensioner (chain tensioner + aluminum rear drop out + training wheel arm).
The ride is really rough, and a lot of energy gets wasted on that damn axle not riding properly. The rear wheels are 100 spoke monsters (28 x 1.5" south asian westwood wheels), that need to be trued.
I am going to purchase some replacement components online, but that front axle can hopefully be pressed into shape, or replaced.
The oven is going to be closed on Tuesday night for an Elite Core Volunteer (tm) Meeting, but come by on Wednesday or Thursday night if you want to insepct the rickshaw, and talk about the best way to fix its axle (hydraulic press was a suggestion from Bike Oven grandmaster Harv).
Thanks so much for the offer! I think the Oven is going to use this as a regular vehilce on rides - to help shlep tools and people around town, and to advertise our collective. Plus, it makes a great vehicle for beer runs.
