 yes, two of the most common are punctures and pinch flats. While technically they are both punctures, for the sake of discussion we will define a puncture as a hole cause by debris, metal shards etc. Those are easy to identify since the object that cause the flat can be found if you look hard enough.

Pinch flats or snake bites are caused when hit a pot holes, curbs or anything that will cause the tube to pinch and rub against the rim. Pinch flats are easy to spot because they are characterized by 2 slits on the tube.

 Some people also consider the improper replacing of tube causing the tube to pinch then pop when inflated, a pinch flat.

 Since SC actually added something worthwhile to this thread, I'll add that the risk of a pinch flat increases if your tire pressure is too low.
