How did you first hear about Midnight Ridazz and what was your first group bike ride?
My ex girlfriend Stacy told me about The White ride, the one year anniversary of the 2nd
Friday MR. I didn’t miss a single one until very recently.
Currently what rides do you attend regularly and what ride(s) would you like to see make a comeback?
818 BIKE POLO and 818 BIKE POLO. The only rides I want back are SpeedyBrian's Cruz With Us and ROBOTZ. We still have Choppercabras.
What advice would you pass on to new ridazz?
Ride first, Party Second. Nevermind, too many rookie youngster riders have already blown the beautiful scene we once had, the one we had that brought in all the new people who burnt it is all gone, nothing will change that.
If you were leading a group ride, what would you do differently?
Tall bikes are the only thing people really ever follow or listen to. Most people think they will follow the music, but that doesn't always work. Tall bikes when rode by qualified individuals are the best.
Do you prefer small rides (30 or less people) or larger rides and why?
Bigger the better, but smaller rides usually have less hassle, and can cover more ground without incident, so it depends on the ride.
Tell us about the best and worst experience you’ve encountered on a group ride.
Best experience (outside of polo) was pretty much any Robotz ride. The worst was when some shit birds on a ride I led stole cheap booze (which I recovered) from a store and brought down a ton of heat. I hate thieves.
What did you do for fun before you started “riding”?
Please repeat the question I thought you said I did something before bikes.
What’s the best and worst thing group bike rides have done for cycling as a whole in Los Angeles? More people ride when not partying, ie commuting/running errands, that is the best thing. The worst thing is they allowed the ghetto youth to creep into a scene meant for 21+. That's the main reason I don't go on these party rides anymore.
If you can name 1 person who embodies the spirit of “Midnight Ridazz”, Who would it be and Why? In no particular order, Barleye, Roadblock, Richie, Alec, Skidmarcus, Kieron, Alex Thompson, Dan Berlant, Paul De Valera, XLarge, SpeedyBrian, Joe from 13Skids, Lil Sarah, Myself, I know I'm leaving out a bunch. The majority of people I see in the 'Ridazz Spotlight' I feel are merely the peanut gallery, and they are takers and followers, not leaders. More known for their posts on the internet than actual contributions to the LA Bike Scene.
What do you think the public’s perception is of group bike rides?
Novelty Act.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I really wish the youngster who are coming out on the scene could hold their line and their liquor. It's wishful thinking, but they killed this scene for me, their whole wannabe gangster tagger act has no business on my bike scene, and I'm glad they ride freewheel or fixed, with no cages or brakes, there's a lot of bus routes in this city, far more potential vehicular disasters than jail cells for them. I'm only joking.
