The Slow Sane Ride
Location: sidewalk in front of Earle'z Grill, SE corner of Crenshaw blvd. and Exposition Blvd, mid LA.
Meet up time: 8:20 a.m.
Ride out: 8:35 a.m. exactly
Stage 1: Panera Bread, corner of Mindaneo Way and Lincoln Blvd, Marina Del Rey. This is an approx. 10
Arrival time: Approximately 9:40 a.m.
Stage 2: Meetup at Panera Bread with the the West Los Angeles Cycling Club ride that bikes to
Torrance/Palos Verdes via the coast bike path. It breaks for lunch before the return portion, and returns to
Panera Bread sometime around 4:00 p.m (this is very approximate.) This is an approximately 27 or 35
mile ride depending on whether you choose to do the optional hills in Palos Verdes at the mid point of the

Ride out: 10:30 a.m.
Stage 3: Bike back to Earle'z Grill starting point after taking a 1+ hour break after getting back to Panera
(details of what to do during break to be decided by consensus but it will be a minimum of 1+ hour rest
break.) This is an approximately 12 mile ride. The route for Stage 3 will NOT be via Ballona Creek Bike Path
because it will/may be dark by then. Route will be via Venice Blvd (has bike lane).
Route (Stage 1 only):
Turn left onto Exposition Blvd (has bike lane)
Turn right onto La Brea Ave
Turn left onto Jefferson Blvd (has bike lane)
Proceed to Ballona Creek Bike Path
Take Ballona Creek Bike Path to Lincoln Blvd exit, turn right onto Lincoln Blvd
Turn right into strip mall immediately at intersection of Mindaneo Way and Lincoln Blvd.
Lock up bike, enter Panera Bread.
Purpose of trip: attempt to safely get exercise/miles in, meet some new people. Eliminate surprises with
routes, times, pace, or destinations.
Special notes: No drugs, pot, alcohol, craziness, costumes, painting, stealing, harassing,
trespassing or violating any other laws.
Gear/attire: helmets and reflective and/or bright clothing, and lights on bike, advised. The use of
headphones is very strongly discouraged. Lock needed.
(HELMETS ARE REQUIRED ON THE WLACC PORTION OF THE RIDE.)
Normal safety group ride procedures followed.
Pace (for Stages 1 and 3 only): 10-12 average mph (which is SLOW.) If you go slower or faster you
will be dropped. Goal of the ride is to get some exercise at this specific slow pace. If you don't want to
ride at this pace, or stay with the group, this ride is not for you. The ride is paced to meet up with the
WLACC ride which has a 1030 a.m. rideout and is another 35 miles. (Pace for Stage 2 is set by the
WLACC group, but is roughly similar.)
Plan is to attempt to ride safely and maintain pace/try to keep the group together. We will stop
for all lights and stop signs.
