30 miles in the rain

..and it was awesome. Does anyone else like riding the rain?
P.s. it's raining in not LA right now which is where I am.

i've done it out of necessity to get to work before, no fenders, it was a really bad storm, and it was horrible
however, a nice drizzle on a hot day would be very welcome =)

i was the only person who showed up to SMCM's 1 year anniversary ride. it was pouring fucking rain and i had the best time riding through 6 inches of water. i even got to lead the ride the whole way.
fenders are ok if it's sprinkling, but if it's raining, just bring a change of clothes in a plastic bag. once you stop trying to avoid getting wet, you will be able to enjoy it.

Rain, of course.
Wind, not so much, but I still do it.
I still remember the first Portland expedition from 2 years ago when myself, erock, PC, samhain, and some locals split from the main group and decided to do our own little exploration of the riverfront.

Yeah, here was mostly a drizzle. Some down-pour a couple times but all I had was a cotton hoodie. Not bad at all as long as you keep the pace up to keep warm.
As fun as it was, I can't wait to get back to LA next week.

Riding in rain is very nice, I just hear it's tough for the chains (oil)

I've ridden in the rain before (mind I've only been riding since October) about 14 miles. I didn't mind getting wet at all. I just didn't like the crap being thrown around by my wheels, that's why I said fenders, and losing visibility because of droplets on my glasses

i rode in a torrentious downpour last winter in wLA i was soaked the minute i left the apartment and i made it about half a mile until i realized i was just plain foolish so i came back in. was very fun and exhilarating but cleaning up afterward (myself and the bike) wasn't.

Yeah, the clean-up last night sucked, but then again I wasn't riding my fix. There were a lot more components to clean lol. It was fun, though. I liked that there were a hell of a lot less people on the road.

My opinion, riding is way fuckin better with no rain.
But, light sprinkle on a hot day is naice +1

I'm waiting to hear from the folks who did the Feb. 2008 Dark Century. All night ride when it rained all night.
They said it was a great experience, but they wouldn't do it again.
Toughest thing was leaving the warm and dry 7-11 in Duarte at 3 am to ride the last 20 miles.

wolfpack rides in the rain a few times a year and it's a BLAST. we did sepulveda coming from the valley one night.... you just have to embrace the idea of being completely drenched and then everything is fine. fenders are a good thing for pacelines.
