ok so I'm addicted to Ridazz group ride adventures to other cities.... SO.... I happen to be going to Miami from 12/02ish-12/7ish. As it is I will have a hotel room booked for which I may be able to accomodate a couple people who would be down to split some of the expenses. if anyone has rider friends in Miami or happen to want to go lets plan this.... I'm hoping to take a train or bus down to the everglades and I'm currently researching routes various things to do whilst I am there. suggestiong appreciated.

Going to the Keys would be a fun time. This is the time of year to do it because it's not too hot and mosquitos are somewhat in submission.
Down side is 1/2 of New York and Connecticut have the same idea and vacation rentals/ camp sights have been rented months ago.

ok so I guess I'm gonna be going it alone in Miami. I'm scouring the net for good routes to check out and I am definitely going to hit the keys. not finding a whole hell of a lot. does anyone out there have some gmap routs to take out there in the FL?

I'm looking around bikeforums.net and also, there was a guy who came out on the Hustle ride about 6 months ago from Miami. supposed to be a good shop out there..... linking it all up. it's a free trip paid for by *gasp* Scion. I will also be going to DC and Portland in the near future if anyone wants to roll. DC in March and Portland next June.

yo don, if you're going to be there, and wanna check out a TON of art, just go to southbeach.
Art Miami is happening from the 3rd to the 7th, there's a ton of stuff going on all over the area. I've been a couple times, it's totally rad, albeit a bit commercial.

yeah man that's actually the reason I'm going. Scion is sponsoring one of the galleries there at which I will be showing a piece and they are flying the artists out to the shows and putting them up for 3 day. I'm pretty stoked. I extended my stay for a few more days and paying for a hotel for the extra days. same deal with DC and Portland. can you reccommend a particular gallery to check out?

Hey Roadblock, glad you're gonna be in Miami. I'll have to come down there to visit and see the gallery that has your piece. I will be traveling north up the east coast from next Wednesday until the 2nd of December. But, that should give me time to drive or make a flight down there. (tickets from nearby Orlando to Miami are really cheap). Just let me know when you're going to be there. I would love it if anyone else comes out. Ben, Kel, twbg, et. al. I still trying to hype a trip out here for you guys sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Awesome! I will have to work some scheduling magic at work, since I just started and already have a number of days off. But, I should be able to work something out for a couple of days during the time you are in Miami. I'll email you as soon as I look at the calendar and see what's up with work. Give me a day or two. Maybe then we can figure out the best days for me to be down there.

from past experience (i didnt go last year) the best fairs were the galleries in the Aqua space, a hotel converted for the week into galleries, although the last time I went, even that one was feeling a bit staid. Not having gone last year I cannot tell you which ones were the best, and, as the show has grown exponentially larger in the last two years, there is probably something newer and cooler now. PULSE is usually pretty good and many smaller galleries are there. NADA can have it's good points, Miami-Basel is like walking through an art history text book (it was here I watched a woman spend 8 million dollars in under a minute); however the container project is usually pretty cool (it's on a different site from the convention hall), Scope tends to be super bourgeois boring New York art, Bridge tends to be pretty good and represents LA pretty well. I know there are others, those are just the ones I can remember from past experiences.
Which fair is your gallery part of?
There is so much art you can literally wander all week and keep finding new stuff.

@ Roadblock, skateboarding in Miami is really good too cause most of their sidewalks are really smooth. It will be worth it to take a board if it's not too much of a hassle.

Aiiiight. I'm off to Miami. Everybody flaked. I'm rollin solo. But not really, there are people out there I am rolling with however, I really was hoping to have a companion to inspire me to keep going south across the keys to key west. We'll see how far I get. Google maps was not too much help since I don't know any of the roads.
I posted to a couple forums focused on miami. Hopefully I will link up with some peoples.

All my bicycle homieez flaked including badger dong. But I found a website with some local rides happening. Worst comes to worst I will ride by my lonesome..... key west is 167 miles from the hotel..... gotta see what the road conditions are like.... i ve read that florida drivers are really bad....

Okay....It's not like I flaked. For those of you who don't know...which is pretty much everyone besides RB and I. I have a work conflict that cannot, after three attempts of incresing intensity, resolve. I gave RB plenty of notice that I couldn't make it out....and I totally wish I could go. Man, it would be fun. I'm gonna make the ride to the keys from Miami, as soon as I can. Mook wants to go...so maybe I'll do some scouting for when he comes out. Oh man, what a fun night. Now that I'm back at the hotel I just realized, cable tv rules! My new favorite show is Real Chance at Love hahahaha this is fuckuing genius. Who the hell are these dudes they geniuses! Now they're playing 3 company! The Terry years!
I just got back from mashing around downtown and back to south beach. I can't wait to ride down to the keys. Unfortunately my bike got squashed in transit. My rear wheel axel is all fucked up. Gotta hit the bike shop tomorrow morning.

Getting my breakfast on while they hopefully fix my bike.... eddie I'm here on bidness, I have a photo piece showing at the scion installation 5 gallery www.scion.com/installation (too tall jahmal). Luckily the trip and hotel are paid for cause I'm jobless and kind of broke right now :) ... but I'm also here to roll out and see the city with mi bicicleta. There is a group ride tonight and tomorrow night.
I was piss drunk last night when I left that last post sorry. lol. I rolled into some karaoke bar chatted up the hot fob polish bartender cooogster -said she hates heavy metal- and sang abracadabra by steve miller which really crashed my stock. Luckily the whole place was empty by the time I was up. Whew.

Dam it! Another ridazz tripped miss! That last paragraph would have made a $1200 plane ticket seem like peanuts, if I knew I was going to witness what happen last night. How do I regret missing that piece of art in real life. Forget about the Scion photos, That was real art show.

thanks eddie. (our assignment was to turn in a self portrait)
so I finally got my bike up and running. rolled out and did part of that bikely route up but veered off and hit the coast. mashed around miami and met some really cool people last night at a poker/alley cat race/ bar crawl. the plan is to hit key largo on saturday. I'm thinking of trying to keep up with one of those morning spandex rides on friday. if I can ever wake up in time.
