Hey,
So having recently arrived to this city I got a great welcome last night on my first ride with Midnight Social. A couple of people happened to mention the same guy who does powder coating on the low in L.A. I didn't happen to catch the guys name to write it down. Anyone got a lead on that? Got a Gitane frame sitting around that took a beating back in NYC and could be perdied up. Much appreciated. Thanks!-GiangOne

Can't help you with a name but here's few tips to help you do it yourself. Anyone can take a frame to any powdercoater and come up with good results. Most powdercoaters use the same method and will have similar results.
If you can take your bike apart completely, you're half way there. Make sure you take off the bottom bracket, the head badge, bottle cage bolts, headset, crown race. Take every part off.
Take it to any powdercoater.
When it comes back, face the headtube and chase and face the bottom bracket. Put your bike together and ride.
You can go to any coop to get stand time and bike tools. Also, you can go to your local bike shop (not the cheapest method but the most efficient).

the paint job place information you can find @ bike oven. I think they have a couple of places they know about who can paint well and are trustworthy...

Mega Powder Coating in El Monte sandblasted and powdercoated my frame and fork and stem for $60. That's probably about as cheap as you'll find.

yeah, thats a good spot. its right by our local midnight social supported shop. R-B bicycle shop. 60 bucks is a really good deal.... what would you give them in grade scale A-F?

stop it with this third person bullshit already.
olympic powdercoating is the best place to go. but its in santa ana. they do sand and media blasting. never sandblast an aluminum frame (unless youre braindead).

@rbi, what is your problem? you really need to give it a break....
the whole us of the third person thing is, we log in as a group. themidnightsocial name is used by all of the leaders of this ride.
get a hobbie, read a book, go paint or find yourself.

They did an A-1 job on my ridiculous pink bike, but other folks have had varying levels of quality. It's not CyclArt quality, but for the price it's pretty sweet, and if you're not happy, they'll redo it.

That lime green, black, silver job I did but I'm not kidding myself. Best to have powdercoat done and leave it to the professionals.haha.
