This is a ride to all the main locations of the movie and reenacting the movie at each stop with different "actors".
The spoke card will contain the entire dialog on one side so anyone can act in it.
The three speaking characters are Sensitive Boy (SB), Girl and Tough Guy (TG)
Extras will ride in cycles between each scene.
Any part can be played by anybody regardless of sex, color, age and sexual orientation.
For example:
SB could be: PC or Miguel or Chynna or Roadblock or Franz or....
Girl could be: Ms Stephanie, Nicole, Troy in drag or LaHarr or ...
TG could be: LaHarr (again) or Borfo or Erin or Stilline or Fuzzbeast or....
It could be reenacted 2-3 times at each stop so that different people get the chance to perform in it.
In the following version the Tough Guy and the Girl swap roles.
Here it's how it goes:
Sensitive Boy is dressed in a banana costume like the one PC has. In fact PC could play the part if he wants to. And yes you film history buffs you got it. The Banana costume is a reference to Banana Republic.
Scene 1: Hollenbeck Park. The Start.
Sensitive Boy: Can I ride with you?
Girl (played by Ms Stephanie): No fuckin way. Your costume is a phalic representation of male chauvinist imperialism. We don't want your kind around here.
Tough Guy (played by LaHarr?): She just talks funny like that. She don't mean it. Is awright. You are one of us. Ride on!
Scene 2: Riding on the street
If this is to be performed as street theater it will be bike tricks by Brandon, Mikey Wally (if he begs us) and the BMX guys. SB and a few extras ride in circles around them.
Scene 3: The flat
Sensitive Boy: Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
Scene 4: The repair. Olive St underpass
Sensitive Boy struggles to repair the tire
Tough guy stops by to help.
TG: Need a hand for the job? Let me show you how... (wink)
Stands behind Sensitive Boy, wraps his arms around him and guides Sensitive Boy's hands around the tire.
SB: Wow Thanks! Errrr... Should we follow everybody else?
TG: What's your hurry? Let's pump your tire a bit longer.
Scene 5: Sensitive Boy & Tough guy walk through Chinatown smoking cigarettes (or a joint)
SB: I've moved down here from Seattle to write music reviews. It's been kind of slow though.
TG: If you writing is as slow as you write bikes I can see why
SB:Hey thanks for stopping by the way. You could have taken off with your friends
TG: Some times crowds are overrated. I'd rather hang out with Eliott Smith most of the time you know?
SB: Yeah. His mural on Sunset is the first thing I saw when I got here...Amazing...
Crew rides by and stops. Girls calls on Tough Guy to join them again.
TG: I got to go
SB: Just wait. Stay with me.
TG: Those are my people.
Girl: C'mon
SB: It's lame to be friends with people out of obligation don't you?
TG: You don't know me.
TG rides on.
Scene 6: More riding
Scene 7: Liquor Store Parking Lot
SB: Hey!
TG: You want to listen to some music? (he's holding a huge boombox on his shoulder and hands it to SB)
SB: Yeah
Cut to Tough Guy & Sensitive Boy riding a tandem on the horizon line. SB holding a big boombog to his ear. They lived happily ever after.
What's this talk about being "original"? This is a tribute to one of the greatest films of our generation. A reenactment.
Before that film I didn't know me either. Now I do.
This film can be our cargo cult.
If we play it over and over we will understand who we really are.

If someone actually ends up filming this, I imagine the final edit being this weird chimera that combines all the footage so that the actors are changing mid-scene or mid-sentence. That would be awesome.
Team Midnight Ridazz will sponsor this film festival. Make your brilliant remakes all during this ride. The winner at the later showing, based on audience applause will win maybe $400 in gift certs from Orange 20 or Brakeless. All proceeds from beer and shit will go to ALC9.
Though Im not naive to the fact that being or acting queer is supposed to be considered funny in certain contexts or to some people, but why (and Im just curious) does it happen here (on an L.A. website, which is supposed to be progressive, "underground", and just simply all inclusive)?
Regarding the Kuang Lee parodies... there have been two quick ideas about putting characters in gay-ish (at a loss for words) circumstances. One was having the story lead to a S&M gay club or something like that. Then the above post, imagines characters swapping roles and turning the story into a "gay love story" as opposed to the hetero love story -- but with the notion that -- just by the story turning queer, it should be funny, Why?
Do you think queers just broke down laughing when they watched the original piece, saying, "Oh shit, oh shit, damn, they actually had a boy and girl attracted to one another... too funny".
You might wonder whether there is something completely gay in simply fantasizing about the above scenario itself. If not, why? Why remove yourself from the fact that you just laid out a gay story, and yet, just because you think its funny, it removes the notion that you yourself are gay (as if you added "no !@#$?" to the end of your post)?
Couldnt the above scene have been just as funny if you didnt swap roles (girls do enjoying pumping a man's penis too you know)... but maybe some have yet to find out.
Overall, I'm asking the community, and maybe (once again) Im just blowing it our of proportion -- what is so funny about being gay, that is not equally funny with hetero couples?
Dont get me wrong, Im just hoping to highlight that we're more creative than resorting to -- just make it queer and it will be funny.
(what about vomit and violence? Or am i the only progressive one?)
Marino let me know if you want to post a ride where multiple film crews with their own set of cast rides their bikes to the location together and has 10 minutes to shoot their footage before moving off to the next locale. Or sumthin... I'll put together the showing space and arrange for priZes for Best Actor Best Actress and the ultimate prize... The Golden Kuang!
Well put . . . if I had to come up with an answer I'd say that people often laugh at that which they are uncomfortable with. Maybe !@#$?sexuality falls into this category?
But this gets into the whole theory of humor which I don't claim to be qualified to speak on. My personal taste in humor runs more towards absurdity and satire.
I haven't read much of the thread. But I was gonna add that while it's funny in fact hilarious to make a film Or ride parodying the br stuff but it's also kinda mean to kuang lee to keep this going. It's over. He's not a mean guy he just read us wrong. It's a funny idea but I kind of want to delete the ride and just leave the guy alone. He's just a film student he learned a lesson. Why keep it going is all I'm saying.

The humor was all in changing the dynamics of the scene from a repair scene to a sex scene--kind of how you change it to a drug use scenario. Do you really think by adding a male, Im somehow making fun of queers? Well, then geez, get with the times, I type male and female like putting on panties, I dont care what the color is as long as they're silk."

My suggestion of the plot scene was just that, a suggestion. I'm open to whatever people want and vote on. There's should be nothing off the table. You wana start limiting the references to gays? Where do you start? Where do you draw the line? That's whole nother can of worms, yeah?

I dont see a problem with making fun of the movie though (this is done all the time, and I think thats the price you pay when you put your name on shit). Kuang Lee, as a person should be left out -- I agree 100%.
My fault too... I added to the mess.
I think theres a difference between how we treat his flick, and how we treat him. If the former (how we feel about the film) changes how we feel when we see his face, then we missed a big point.

Young, hot chick finally gives into the SB's advances, onlSB does not know that she's actually playing him into an open grille, quite literally.
Next scene involves an off-screen gunshot, some chainsaw noises, screaming from SB, hot-girl laughing maniacally.
Cut's over to a candle-lit dinner scene in a nice house and two grilled, yet oddly shaped pieces of hearty meat on a plate with some finely prepped sides.

I don't think there is anything funny about gay romance in general but I do think I might get a chuckle out of Laharr and Miguel as the romantic leads.
I'm also skeptical that an effective parody can be made of something so bad to begin with. .. but it's worth a try I suppose.

I was actually watching some Jeffrey Dahmer movie on TV just a little while ago, then I had a hankering for some French-onion burgers I grilled last night.
we do the Midnight Ridazz remake of Midnight Ride, and then do a Mystery Science Theatre 3000-style commentary. Bentstrider will play the gumball machine.
during RWNN Roadblock's friend asked me if they can ride with me and Chynna told me that I was wearing a GAP sweater. This movie has really influenced alot of Ridazz!!

This sounds like an amazing ride, but what about C.R.A.N.K.MAS II? It's on the same night. Is the ride still going to be on the 19th (if it's still even going on, that is)?
