Deep v's are pretty tough.

Atleast mine are, some bitch in a newish bmw license plate 5xpt086 molested the entire back half of my bike with the front end of her car twenty minutes ago going up lincoln. She hit me in the rear and tossed me up over the bike. Im unsure how accurate the license plate is for my glasses busted as soon as i hit the ground and couldnt really make out the plates. I watched as she stopped about fifty feet up, got out, made sure her car was AOK, and got back in. So, i ran up to her passenger window and knocked a few times, she gave me a hand like she was about to roll it down but was still checking traffic to pull out so i stood in front of her car til she opened the door. First words out of her mouth were ''YOU HIT ME! YOU HIT ME!'', So i told her she was a peice of shit and shouldnt be driving. Apparently she warranted this as illegal on my behalf and closed the door and grabbed her phone pretending(?) to call the cops.
But really, deep v's, tough cookies. My seatpost\seatstays not so much.

I would have fucked up her car and waited for the cops. My argument would have been that she would have left if I didn't do something. Works for cops all the time. If you think you got the plates, then report this as a hit and run. You're lucky you didn't get hurt too.

If you have the License Plate # you should report it to the police and take that bitch off of the streets

I really cant roll my eyes hard enough.
Call the cops and get dangerous drivers off the road, less hipster talk, please.

Justa kiddin chris. Really kinda upset about this, I froze up when it was all going down and now its too late to do anything about it. I almost didnt even get her license plate, when i was up near her car it didnt cross my mind.

No it's not. It was a few days ago, yuu can still file a police report, which would be handy if you wanted a new bike courtesy of her insurance co.
It's up to you obviously, but if somebody hit you and you've got a plate, reporting it to the police would make a lot of sense.

or if this is a thread about deep v's being tough thats cool... because yeah they really are tough, but super heavy and you REALLY feel the road on them... I wonder if their durability is enough to make up for their weight or the amount of road shock you get on them.
i personally recommend forte titans or aksiums, if youre on a road bike

My Deep V once got into a fight with a VW beetle. This very nice lady was too busy to look before changing lanes and got over right on top of me. I still have my taco'd front wheel (a Campagnolo Vento) as a reminder of how lucky I was. Even after getting hit, and me throwing my bicycle a good 20 feet in an adrenaline-fueled rage, not to mention couple thousand miles on the mean streets of L.A. at that point, my Deep V is still good. Sorry about your crash at least you weren't hurt.

People on a budget, that's who.
I don't want to be taking out any loans to buy those insanely-priced wheelsets in the $1,000's+ range that are still just as vulnerable as the Forte' I'm rockin' on my rear-triangle.

Since I don't have anything to say about the OP, I'll continue with the threadjack.
I'm Cat 6 and I can tell you Aksiums are heavy, for the price (if you want new wheels) Neuvations are the bestest. The rear is only slightly heavier than Ksyrium SL's the front is the same weight.

wtf kind of elitism is this?
Because when you graduate from cat X to X-1 they administer a rim test and if you can't tell the difference between deep Vs and racing wheels you are barred from further competition. Right.
So two questions: What is the minimum skill level that is permissible if you're going to have an opinion about rims? And what category are you? I bet if I knew the answer to one I could guess the answer to the other...

tdf level riders can. bikeforums roadies will tell you that they can, but they are full of shit. hipsters doing backwards circles in parking lots and commuters cannot tell the difference between a few hundred grams in a wheelset.
im a cat 1 btw.

If you are trying not to seem elitist, or attempting to explain how cardiovascular health translates to enhanced sensory perception, you are failing. But no matter, as a cat 1 rider, you probably have a large heart. And large lungs and legs. And the rest of your body is basically deadweight, so I'm glad that you have found a venue that rewards a small brain.

I know arguing on the internet is lame, but this is one of the best comebacks I've even seen on MR. I remember when I got my Rolf Vigor wheels I could certainly tell the difference and I'm just a lowly cat 4. That being said, I would still rather spend more time on my bike and in the gym to get faster than to buy things. But good wheels do help a lot.
ps. You can't race your bike with your head up your ass. Everyone was a 5 once.
