I dont know ubrayj, but in the first pic, CAM keeps it pretty real with a u-lock in his aerospoke. Might have Chicken Leather beat, cause that must be tough to ride.

I got a Flying Pigeon last year, and it has about the build quality of your standard bottom-of-the-line department store fair. Can it be ridden? Sure, but I can't imagine anyone using one as their primary mode of transportation or lasting several decades. The current old style Pigeons at this point are nothing more than a cheap nostalgia item.

aerospokes and snowboard helmets for bikes are lamer than lame.
vintage townie bikes look cool, but if you live in a place that has even a small elevation gain, youre fucked. not even a 1x1 ratio will help you push that 40lbs thing around.

We fixed that problem by installing carbon forks and aerospokes on all our bikes now.

My bike is 80lbs+ right now, but I can haul your fat ass and a keg of beer in it, up hill, both ways, in the snow. So, your "point" about elevation gains is wrong, off, and lame.
You ride a bike to be "Fast"? Who are you kidding? A 300lbs donut eating lardo on a wrecked moped can run laps around your ass. Motors win the "fast" game. Riding a bike to be "fast" misses the point entirely for most people using bikes on the planet.
Riding a bike that fits a human body without causing pain or discomfortl, that lasts a long time, that looks beautiful to the eye - that is something great.
