I've organized a new ride recently. From NoHo station to Van Nuys Blvd. where we join resurrected iconic cruise night every 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Sitting here with WonderDave and Stillline and discussing the vitality of this community. Funny that this is the first thread we see. I proposed a Deadpool but mixed the idea immediately as we would probably be the first three on the list. Yes, it's still alive.

I'm moving to West Palm Beach,FL next year and in my search for my M.R replacement....it doesn't exist. It's basically a blog that just lists rides. No forums to troll, post topics, get called a bully on, post photos, talk to people and only call them by MR names in person. I always understood how awesome M.R was but my goodness....,it really hit me how lucky people are to have MR around.

I have found your replacement. his name is Joe King (on fb) and i belive he rides with BB&K and with peeps from the Crafty Pedal. The voice, his speech patterns and cadence and even his laughter are eerily so much alike. He even sports a trimmed beard like you used to sport when you first began letting your beard grow. Yall have to meet before you leave.

My energy to do anything in the bike scene is drained, but I'm always inspired watching others throw their money and time at it. I did it for a little over a decade but I'm not sure it was worth it. I think it was. We had some good times together. I'm trying to find that spirit to get involved again. Glad the site is still online, at least.

Maybe the people of MR from 2006-2011 grew up. Cycling is fun. It's a great way to travel. But it's not all there is. Maybe I'll login next year and find this site as dead as the "scene".

Whatever people. The only thing to gain is what you put into it. I was doing wacky stuff with bikes before there was a "scene" and guess what? Still going. If you don't go all in on things what do you expect? Once the novelty wore off all the tourists left. So like all things it is what you make of it and the reward is built right in to the act of doing, expecting anything else is a fool's errand. What is stopping you from organizing a ride or an event or a skills clinic or? Only you. Just because the cool kids went back to heroin does not mean what we made is any less valid, alive, vital, or worthy. Be the change. Be the action you want. Stop wallowing in the past, now is now! there is no gong back, only forward.
And growing up is a sham. Don't do it!

So ahhhh, I've been debating doing a ride in Portland. Since I'm a MoM Rida, I could do a MoM ride, but I want an even more inclusive spirit . . . What are the chances of resurrecting MR in Portland? are there any Midnight Ridazz in Portland? any of those online?

Dylan from angelopes is up there, rambod is up there ab I am sure there are others. I think Coco butter used to do a Midnight Ridazz ride every year for pedalpalooza. So the name should be familiar to some up there.

You know, all this site needs is a little sprucing up and people will come back. And save me the diatribe Paul about it's good enough as it is.
Make it easy to find answers to bike related issues.
Have a section with different local bike shops (hey, maybe work something out with them and have them offer 10% off if they mention they were found via Midnightridazz.com).
Have a better ride calendar. Like, maybe an actual Calendar which you can add your ride on. It can be the name of the ride as a link that sends you to the ride description.
Have a whole section dedicated to Ciclavia with all future ciclavia dates.
Shit, maybe even have a section for Metro: riding public transportation and tips on how to utilize it to the max.

Sure the bike scene is not what it used to be but there is still a vibrant cycling community out there, some shops are driving the scene like Golden saddle. There is more "serious" biking and less rolling rave (fixies). It has grown up somewhat I guess. Keyboards don't make much happen though....

When I was funemployed, 2007-2010, I went on rides almost nightly. I sure miss those days. Now its pretty much Art Crash and the All City Toy Ride. Looking forward to that in a couple of weeks.
