these threads, as hopeful as they might start out, are really just good for nothing. I mean, how many actual bikes have we recovered by the use of such said thread (with description and picture of actual bike)?
If anything, I believe this site could be updated a bit and have different Forums, one such forum could be the Stolen Bike Forum. You ever care to look for what's been stolen, just go in there.
Nothing personal to the creator... I wish you luck... but around here you're definitely going to need more than luck and more than anything the LAPD has to offer, including that bicycle license bullshit.

it's all constructive criticism... it's just a thought. it would make it easier for people to find and not only that but threads hardly ever stay on top for more than a day (unless it has to do with hipsters or lolcats)
just more convenient.

"unless it has to do with hipsters or lolcats"
hahaha
out of curiousity,
when/how are these bikes being stolen? is it during the day? did you leave outside overnight? was it due to a weak lock?
maybe if we had a thread explaining how the bikes were stolen, it might help us not repeat the same mistake if there was one that could have been avoided.

first off ... to make a screen shot its
[apple] [shift] [3]
or
[apple] [shift] [4] to do a marquee screen shot.
------------------------
If somebody's bike gets stolen they are gonna make a thread. few people bother to do a search for an existing thread before starting a new one and nobody is going to monitor this. besides, with all the thread hijacking around here (case in point) any thread that is around for a while is going to have a 1000 posts, 99 videos, and 171 pictures.
So yeah ... people are just going to keep on posting threads titled "MY BIKE GOT STOLEN"
appropriate response:
Damn I'm sorry to hear about that.
I'll definitely keep my eyes out.
And by the way ... you should get and use a U-Lock if you don't already.

If you could give more details about the theft, that would be awesome.
Crash/Theft details are always good, so others can avoid their mistakes.
(Not that it's going to stop everyone from getting drunk and riding and wiping out on flat smooth pavement or from leaving their bike outside overnight with only a cheap cable lock, but sometimes there are good lessons to be learned.)

@trickmilla: i believe you missed my point entirely. i did give him some words of encouragement. but that wasn't the point i was trying to make.
what i'm saying is... oh nevermind...
i'll stop trying to come up with ways we could make things easier. i'm sorry. i see what rachelle means.
peace.
