Just in case someone is looking for cheaper/good alternative to Ipod.
I've gone thru 2 ipods , recently had a 4 month old nano that wont play music when I press the play button.Luckily I have warranty but otherwise Apple will pretty much charge you good loot to fix or sell you a new one.
Anyways, I decided to ask around and got good reference
on a Sony Player 4 g..looked it up and got decent review.
Retails for $95.88 - $127.98
On special at Target for 49.00
I had it a few days and like it better than Nano.
Just a FYI

I've owned two ipods and they were the dumbest mp3 players ever. I hate iTunes, but what really did it for me was the fact that they would crash sometimes. I mean, is that a fucking Windows PC or something?
Get yourself one of these bootlegs from Hong Kong:
http://www.uxcell.com/
I bought a 2GB player for like $60 three years ago that plays OGGs, movies (good color screen), has a built-in microphone and mini speaker, two output jacks (one of them can be used for a microphone too), and works like a memory stick (fuck iTunes, seriously), and I'm still using it. The ipod is a piece of shit in comparison.

I hate iPods, anything is better than the cheaply-made high-priced pieces of crap.

Maybe they don't make 'em like they used to. I've had my 3G iPod for over four years now, works as well as the day I got it and has crashed maybe once ever.
It's not abused but I don't really take care of it, it stays in my backpack and gets tossed around. It used to get left in hot car interiors often before I started driving less.
With apologies to Winston Churchill, iTunes is the worst music management software except for all the others. Lots of people disagree with me on this, but I just don't like using the file system to manage my music. It's not as useful as using metadata.
I'm a bit surprised that there isn't a faster and open source program for all platforms that organizes music with metadata and works flawlessly with a variety of music players. I'll switch when that comes along.

I think there is software that you can leverage.once you create lists is just drag and drop.
, 4GB for $49 , cool deal , nice interface and sound quality for it

But the iPod alternatives mean you're not in that extra cool group of people who know what the best things out there are!!

I don't like the Ipod monopoly either but until a better music library system emerges to compete with the simplicity and effectiveness of Itunes, then other MP3 devices will continue to to scramble for single digit market penetration. Most people who can't stand Itunes haven't learned to use it right. It's not about buying music either, it's about organizing all your MP3s, subscribing to audio podcasts, and being able to stream all your tunes from your computer into your stereo. Don't hate just because it's popular. Sometimes things are popular for good reasons.

Ive had my ipod for over a year also and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. before this one, i had another one for close to 3 years before i gave it to my uncle and i hear it's working just fine. of course i keep my shit immaculate in its case and never drop it.. so maybe it's all in the handler and not the product.

i've also got the creative zen 2GB mp3 player, and honestly... i fucking love it. i picked it up at fry's a couple months ago for $30, but i don't know if it's still that cheap. i've got no complaints whatsoever. it lasts longer than my ipod, and takes way more fucking abuse. i've dropped it while riding, and that shit still works perfectly. i don't know if it's just me, but i download by the album and i manually organize my music by folders... so i have no need for itunes to do it for me.

Well I haven't had any trouble organizing my mp3s the old-fashioned way for over ten years now (yeah I pirated music way before Napster came out, FTP FTW) and I've gone through my fair share of mp3 players, but if you hipsters insist on sucking Steve Jobs' dick, fine. I'm just going to go buy one of those stupid mp3-watches from that bootleg website and walk around like captain dorkface.

You don't have to use iTunes to manage an iPod.
Also, the Allies won World War II, the Beatles broke up, and there's gay marriage in California now.
