Ridazz, help me.
Does anybody know of a route, other than Cahuenga, that will take me from Hollywood to North Hollywood?
I know I can take the Red Line but it doesn't run 24/7.

Ok, to use skiing terms, Cauhenga is probably a blue square, bit of a tough climb and a decently sketchy descent..
as far as I know, the only other options are either worse (Laurel Canyon etc. --definitely black diamonds, if not doubles depending on the canyon) or around (LA River bike path, Crystal Springs Blvd through Griffith, etc --green circles fo' sho')

Other than going all the way around taking Franklyn to Los Feliz and Up the LA River path until Alameda, and Victory until Magnolia.. That's all I know.
Quite a ways to avoid that Cahuenga Climb. But doable.

Cahuenga and Sepulveda both need to stay on MTA's radar for bike safety improvements. They've been posted to the LA BMP planning request on Bikely.

Southbound Cahuanga on the South side of the freeway should be one way and put in a bike lane.
Northbound on the north side of the freeway needs to be one way with a bike lane.
Years ago that is how it was and it worked fine.
With just a few changes it could be done.

Griffith Park to Riverside works well too.
The road has rollin hills so it really breaks the monotony of a long climb. You really don't even feel like you're climbing, and before you know it.... you're there!

take cahuenga east.
from highland make a right on the street before the 101 entrance. and stick on the east side. theres a dedicated bike lane, and its not that bad. i've done it drunk at 4 in the morning countless times.
the other alternative is the 156 bus line, which runs once an hour after 11 PM for 24 hours. it takes you to the north hollywood metro station via cahuenga for 1.25

yeah my preference is going through Griffith Park (Crystal Springs Rd)... even though it's dark, and coyotes howl, and you have to hop the little guard rail at the end, it's far less sketchy than the L.A river bike path. However, if you're destination is North Hollywood, I guess that's sort of a big detour. (I live in Burbank, so it makes more sense)
