Los Angeles River Bike Path

excuse me...multi-use-activity path
Not to be negative, but I'm a little frightened of riding on the bike path, if it's not going to be properly maintained and the city takes no responsibility.
does anyone commute using the bike path? is it safe for high speeds? are there particular neighborhoods that are more hazardous?

in the Griffith to DTLA leg, there is just one sketchy section with 3 raised tar spots. at night especially, i often find myself anticipating the 3 bumps and get it when i least expect it. this is near the fletcher exit.
and also one S bend to the left that you might miss in the dark, and accidentally die.
overall the path is ok. you begin to remember where all the cracks are and what not.

the Lario section of the path is sketchy mainly because of the adjacent hoods.

I am scared to death of that path. Almost went over my bars on those 3 bumps once... but that's not the reason I hate the path. Dark. Sketchy. Not good. I'd rather take San Fernando.

I commute this path, from Victory to Fletcher daily and it IS maintained by the city (I've seen street sweeper trucks on there a few times) This path is totally hi speed north bound. South bound the wind from the 5 freeway is kind of a drag. Some people think it's not good at nite, but I'm not one of them. Beyond Fletcher its not really bikeable at nite unless u go slow and have a really good light, and even then its sketchy.

the fucks who stole all the copper wiring should be drawn and quartered. It was nice when it was well lit. now I need a bright headlight.
I still take the path because there are no stop lights.

DON'T RIDE THE PATH/OBSTACLE COURSE ADJACENT TO RIVERSIDE DRIVE, IT'S TOTALLY FUCKED UP. I DID FLIP OVER MY HANDLEBARS THERE ONE NIGHT WITH THE MOM RIDAZ THANKS TO A HUGE CRACK THAT ATE MY WHEEL. MY KNEE IS STILL NOT THE SAME.

I've just created a google map to document the poor road conditions for cycling in Los Angeles. My hope is to reformat this map so that we can give official legal notice to the city for the needs for repairs. then, if anyone gets injured, the city can be held liable.
PLEASE CONTRIBUTE. At least, this will make rides safer, and at best your neighborhood might actually get the attention it needs.

Alameda (southbound) & Temple in DTLA!!
HIGHLY DANGEROUS
The crosswalks have this very deep border, almost as if they're waiting for a decorative border.
Northbound seems fine. Southbound will kill ya. Didn't check Temple E/W.
At night, you can't see it until you're right on it.
