It's a BIKE RIDE!

After a lot of time of thinking about this and talking with the other organizers of our bike ride and we have come to a decision. I really cannot believe that I have to say this, but IF YOU ARE NOT RIDING A BIKE, PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE TACO TUESDAYS BIKE RIDE!!!!! I guess someone must have misunderstood the posting on MIDNIGHT RIDAZZ, IT’S “TACO TUESDAYS BIKE RIDE” ;). We are NOT talking about showing up at the meeting point and hanging out before we leave, that’s totally cool. Look, we spend a lot of time, effort, and money trying to make the ride F.U.N. for everyone and have a goodtime. It’s really, really inconsiderate for a person or people to try to hi-jack or change numerous stops to fit THEIR agenda. If you want to do something else PLEASE DO IT or at least take the time and effort and post your own ride.
I really try to be a kind, helpful, compassionate person (that follows the code of the Midnight Ridazz), but sometimes a person or people will just push too much and try to take advantage of a situation. I am not the fastest rider or best on hills, but I try my best to follow the leaders when I go on their rides, and if I have a problem with a ride, I leave or do my own thing as a consideration and respect for the people who have taken their time and effort to organize the ride. I hate having to post this but:

say what....like people show up and then steal your peeps for their own ride....or they show up with tacos and no bike

In most cases, I agree but being that many of us get hurt on rides and only have a couple weeks left of Summer vaca, I support hurt riders pace-caring or following the ride to chill at the stops. It's fun and no one should be excluded.

I totally support hurt rider pace-caring and understand that everyone should be able to join in the fun, but when individuals try to change stop locations or split up rides that they have spent no time or effort in creating, it is very inconsiderate to the organizers. I am trying to keep everyone's feelings in mind, I like everyone, but respect and being considerate is a two-way street.

Last Friday, I organized a "bike ride" with a small circle of friends. Unfortunately, tern showed up with his broken foot, and we felt obligated to stay in with him.

XL, i want to apologize for disrupting your ride.
but singling me out on this forum is pretty ridiculously rude, and if you really wanted to discuss it i would rather have it done in person. [ besides that im currently typing with one hand. ]
the situation was that i broke my hand. a lot of my friends went on this ride and told me to follow them to the stops as we were planning on hanging out afterwards. the main issue was i asked if maybe they would stop before they biked on the jetty so that i didnt have to walk alone at 11pm at night a mile in the dark. he told me to be "resourceful", but im sorry that i was just looking out for my own safety. i apologize for snapping at you but i was pretty irritated that my concerns over my safety were laughed at.
if i hijacked your ride, i didnt mean to, as that wasnt my intention. the riders that broke off at the end didnt want to leave venice, not so much to take the ride elsewhere. that was not my doing.

I was one of the people who broke off in the end and I just have to say that it wasn't tinycities' fault at all. That portion of the ride was hijacked by two flat tires, one excessively sandy drivetrain, one dive over handlebars, and one broken saddle causing a rider to ride the bare seatpost. Thus a bunch of us were kept in Venice after you all left until we got food nearby and ate it on the mini-pier which was close to broken-down cyclists' homes or cars. We simply decided not to burden the rest of the ride with our mechanical drama.

Next time, you guys could bring an extra cycle, so that tinycites can ride along. Do you guys know anyone with an extra cycle out there?

I had a double double before we left and a Hinano's cheeseburger at the Venice Pier! Lol. I really did have intentions of eating Tacos but just didn't play out that way. I had a nice time otherwise.

Thank you for your apology. I’m sorry that you feel what I said singled you out and was pretty ridiculously rude, but I was not the only one that felt what you where doing and asking for last night was pretty ridiculously rude as well.
As for your safety concerns, I was concerned for you safety as well as everyone else’s safety on the ride (and MR people as a whole), but the T.T. ride is designed for bikes and to go where cars cannot. It might be better to meet up with your friends at an event where you can have easy access with your current condition. When I mentioned to you to be “resourceful”, I was talking about the driving directions you keep asking for in which I did not know the exact street names, the T.T. ride goes through bike paths and others hidden paths, you where aware of the next stop, maybe you should of got a map so that driving to the next stop would be a little easier for you.
This is not the first time nor the first ride I have seen you do this on. I have heard you “first hand” talk very negative about some other ride organizers when they were not very open to the idea of a car following their bike ride around the city. I felt your negativity towards our ride when we were not open to changing our stops to fit your agenda. I may be off base, but following bike rides around in a car is a little sketchy.
Look, we have lots to deal when doing a ride, like trying to keep the group together, staying as close as possible to the time schedule for all the people who have to work the next day, helping with any flat tires or bicycle problems, making sure that everyone is safe, making sure that we can eat tacos before everyone starves to death and much more. You are welcome to ride with us, but PLEASE wait till your hand is better and you can ride a bike. Thanks,

I admit to committing the same sin. I love the rides but when my left wrist was in a cast and my doctor warned me not to ride. Besides, I couldn't use my left brake or shift my front chain ring. I missed the other riders so drove to the start. I even followed to another stop. I wasn't trying to hijack any ride, I just missed the fun of the ride even if I couldn't ride. We seem to be getting our share of broken bones so should we tell injured riders not to show up if they don't have a bike?

Maybe I shouldn't have responded so quickly, XL, I didn't see your last post. I have to admit if the ride isn't going to a place where it's easy for me to drive, it's time to leave. I didn't want the ride to change to meet my needs. I always thought it was kind of cool to see injured riders show up at a stop and waving their crutches. It was cool to see Borfo at a recent ride but he was pretty low key about it. Kinda makes it all feel like family though when you see he can't ride but he's still there.

This is not the first time, stuff like this happened with tinycities, it seems to be a re-occurring event.
And please do let Cesar, Rich, or I know about any bike problems, we are more than happy to help out or to wait till the problem can be fixed.
If you are breaking off, that's cool, just please let us know so that we do not have to worry that everyone got back ok. Thanks.

I think it's really cool that injured riders show up at certain stops hand hang out drink and have lots of f.u.n., especially the last stop at "Cinco De Mayo" which is a extended stop (Everyone come and eat tacos with us anytime) But spending lots extra time waiting for someone to show up sucks and makes people late for work the next day. If this was a weekend ride, there would be lots of extra time. The question I get a lot is what time do we get back, so we try stay to some sort of schedule so that people don't lose their jobs and can buy more bikes!!!

I've seen a ton of rides with cars following ala crutch mob style: richie, bunnybubbles (i think), borfo, mixtemotions....after xl said it was the "classic" taco tuesday ride: ballona, mustache, mdr jetty, venice pier, tacos.....from what i saw it wasn't hijacked at all. if it was some douche honking and being beligerent following us and attracting the police, that's a different story...seemed to be no problem though..but that's just my opinion...shelli's cool......hanana's burgers are good....they have nothing on apple pan or marty's...sorry stevo.
one thing....what's up with riding thru the 3-4 foot wide walkway near the boats? nearly took my hand off trying not to bang into the sides of the walkway.

Sounds fun Stevo4, but 42 miles and 45 miles, respectively (depending on which Dark Century route it is) are not accessible by car. Thanks though. I will be house sitting near your neighborhood soon. We'll hang out then.
