IMAGINE IF WE ALL HAD ONE OF THESE?
YOU COULD ASSIGN CHANNELS TO EVERY ONE, WITH 2,600 CHANNELS TO CHOSE FROM, TALK TO WHO EVER YOU WANT TO,
THESE THINGS WORK AT AT LEAST 5 MILES, THE MAX DISTANCE BEING 8 MILES.
THEY ALSO COME WITH VOX FEATURE.

IT IS JUST ONE OF THE WAYZ WE CAN HAVE FUN, ALSO IF SOMEONE GETS LOST OR HURT, OR THERE BIKE STOLEN, YOU COULD INSTANTLY LET ANYBODY KNOW BY USING A CHANNEL LIKE 4.11 OR 9.11
THESE THINGS ARE COOL AND VERY FUN TO COMMUNICATE WITH.
22 CHANNELS, WITH 121 SUBCHANNELS PER CHANNEL.
THIS SHIT IS DIGITAL.
YOU COULD LOOK ME UP, REMEMBER THEY ARE ONLY GOOD FOR 5 TO 8 MILES DISTANCE. GET ONE THEN PICK A NUMBER WITH 1.0 WATT, USE 0.5 WATT CHANNELS FOR CLOSE AND PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS.
MY CHANNEL IS 16.116, I SET MINE UP MYSELF.

These things don't have anything like 2600 channels. More like 22 channels with a bunch of (misnamed) "privacy" codes, which are actually codes that theoretically only open the squelch when people with the same code are transmitting. It won't keep signals from interfering with one another on the same channel, though--if you're on 16.116 and I'm on 16.112 and we transmit at the same time we're going to step on each other.

GOOGLE TALKABOUT FROM MOTOROLA
THEY GO FOR ABOUT 30 TO 60 BUCKS, FOR A PAIR, AND THEY WORK WITH ANY OTHER WALKIE TALKIES.
SOME COME WITH CHARGER STANDS, OR PUT IN YOUR OWN BATTERIES.
THERE FUN AND EASY TO USE, THEY USE THE SAME CHANNELS AS THE CB RADIOS.
REALLY COOL.

I mountain bike with a group in Ventura, most riders bring a small two way radio with them -- this way, no one gets left behind.
In the city, like in DTLA the buildings can block the signals.
Listen to PC, he knows what he's talking about.

If it's that important to have long range push-to-talk comms on urban rides, get prepaid Boost Mobile phones with the walkie-talkie feature and you'll have infinite range. $1/day, only on the day you use it.
